Job Title: Telecommunications Designer Job Description A growing multi-disciplinary design-build firm is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to support numerous upcoming projects in the Seattle area. This role is ideal for an entry- to mid-level designer with 2–6 years of telecom design experience, a strong foundation in electrical or related disciplines, and familiarity with Revit. Responsibilities Design telecommunications systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements and industry standards. Produce detailed telecom design documents and drawings using Revit, maintaining accuracy and consistency across all project deliverables. Collaborate with electrical, architectural, construction, and project controls teams to integrate telecom designs seamlessly into overall project plans. Apply electrical design and engineering principles to telecommunications layouts, equipment selection, and system coordination. Support data center and other technology-focused projects by contributing to structured cabling layouts, equipment room designs, and related telecom infrastructure. Utilize tools such as AutoCAD and Revit to develop and revise drawings, models, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Participate in project planning and controls activities, including coordination meetings, progress reviews, and design updates. Assist staff and project managers with design-build tasks, helping to keep projects on schedule and within scope. Contribute to a variety of project types within a multi-disciplinary environment, adapting designs to different facility and client needs. Demonstrate initiative and leadership potential with the goal of progressing into a Project Manager role within approximately two years. Essential Skills 2–6 years of experience in telecommunications design or closely related technology design roles. Proficiency in Revit, including the ability to independently produce project drawings and models. Experience in electrical, drafting, architectural, or related disciplines with a strong interest in technology and telecom design. Understanding of electrical design and electrical engineering concepts as they relate to telecommunications systems. Experience working on construction projects and familiarity with design-build environments. Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, including electrical, architectural, and project controls professionals. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in design documentation and project deliverables. Motivation to grow into a Project Manager position and take on increasing responsibility over time. Additional Skills & Qualifications RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification. BICSI certification or coursework in structured cabling and telecommunications design. Experience working on Amazon fulfillment centers or similar large-scale industrial or logistics facilities. Experience with AutoCAD for drafting and design documentation. Exposure to data center projects and technology infrastructure design. Interest in long-term career growth within a multi-disciplinary design-build firm. Ability to adapt to a variety of project types and client requirements. Work Environment The role is based in a collaborative design-build environment that offers a mix of in-office and remote work, with three days per week in the office and two days remote. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
