Job Title: Test Lead / Test Engineer – Data Platform (onPrem/Cloud)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Test Lead/Engineer to own quality assurance for a Data Platform initiative spanning both onPrem and cloud environments. This role combines test strategy ownership with hands-on automation delivery, embedded into a CI/CD pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, document, and own the overall test strategy for data platform components — covering data pipelines, ETL/ELT jobs, data warehouses/lakes, and integration points across onPrem and cloud
• Design test approaches for data quality, data reconciliation, schema validation, and transformation logic
• Build, maintain, and extend test automation frameworks; write and execute automated test cases for functional and data-layer testing
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring test gates run reliably as part of the deployment process
• Collaborate with data engineers, platform architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into test coverage
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI (e.g. for test case generation, anomaly detection, synthetic test data, or coverage analysis) to improve testing efficiency
• Report on test coverage, defect trends, and platform quality to project/program leadership
• (If Lead) Mentor and coordinate junior test engineers; manage test planning and prioritization across sprints/releases

Must-Have Requirements

• Proven experience creating test strategy for data platforms, onPrem and/or cloud
• Hands-on experience automating test cases and working with/building test automation frameworks
• Strong CI/CD experience — mandatory, not optional
• Solid SQL skills and experience validating large, complex datasets
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Must be based in Zürich and available to work only from within Switzerland (no remote-from-abroad)

Good to Have

• Experience leveraging AI/GenAI within testing workflows (test generation, anomaly detection, coverage optimization, synthetic data)
• Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift)
• Experience in banking/financial services data environments
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification
• German Language
