Therapist Placement Student Support people across Lancashire through online therapy, gain valuable placement experience, and grow with regular supervision in a welcoming, inclusive mental health charity. We are seeking dedicated Virtual Volunteer Therapists from all backgrounds to join Lancashire Mind’s growing team. Mental Health Support Through Therapy Volunteering As a Student Placement Therapist, you will play a vital role in our mission to ensure no one faces a mental health challenge alone. We welcome applications from trainees on placement, qualified therapists, or mental health professionals looking to give back to the Lancashire community. Volunteer title: Therapist Placement Student/Volunteer (CBT or Counselling) (Virtual Role) Closing Date: 28th September 2026 (midnight) Shortlisting: 8th October 2026 Interviews: Monday 19th October 2026 Induction & Safeguarding Training: Tuesday 27th October 2026 (You must be available for this date) Please note: We reserve the right to close applications early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications. We anticipate pausing recruitment once we have received approximately 20 suitable applications. Support Better Mental Health Across Lancashire Are you studying towards a counselling, psychotherapy or CBT qualification and looking for a placement opportunity where you can make a real difference? Lancashire Mind is seeking dedicated Virtual Therapist Placement Students and Volunteer Therapists to support people across Lancashire through our growing therapy service. Please note: This is currently a primarily virtual role , delivering therapy sessions online. However, applicants based locally to Leyland and surrounding areas may be of particular interest, as we anticipate offering face-to-face therapeutic support within the next six months. Key Responsibilities Provide safe, confidential and supportive therapeutic interventions online. Build positive therapeutic relationships with clients in line with Lancashire Mind's values and professional standards. Maintain accurate and confidential records. Attend clinical supervision and any required training. Work within Lancashire Mind's safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection policies. Contribute to service evaluation and continuous improvement. Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of your work. Person Specification Essential: Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree, Postgraduate Diploma or Master's Degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Studying on a BACP or BABCP accredited qualification that requires completion of a 100-200 hour placement . Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Empathetic, non-judgemental and professional approach. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Commitment to safeguarding and ethical practice. Desirable: Based in or able to travel to Leyland and surrounding areas if face-to-face opportunities become available in the future.
