Job Title: Training Manager, Immigration Legal Services Department: Membership & Programs Team: Training Reports To: Director of Training and Technical Assistance Direct Reports: Training Associate or Intern, if assigned Employment Status: Permanent, Full Time, Exempt, 40 hours per week Location: Position is based in New York City. The position is hybrid with a requirement to work 4 days a week from the office and one day remote. Some travel throughout New York State is required. Position Overview The Training Manager, Immigration Legal Services owns the strategy, program design, development, and management of NYIC Training Institute legal and law-related training programming for immigration legal service providers, including attorneys and non-attorney legal practitioners such as accredited representatives, paralegals, and legal assistants, through legal training, technical assistance, and communities of practice. Under the supervision of the Director of Training and Technical Assistance, the Training Manager, Immigration Legal Services, leads legal and law-related training and technical assistance initiatives, The role is accountable for high-quality curriculum and training delivery, trainer coordination, participant experience, accurate program data and reporting, and compliance with applicable Continuing Legal Education requirements. The Training Manager, Immigration Legal services may supervise a Training Associate or Intern. if assigned. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program Management Collaborate with Manager of Training Operations to the delivery of the NYIC Training Institute’s signature 40-Hour Comprehensive Overview of Immigration Law training, including maintaining and updating curricula, recruiting trainers, and providing outreach and support to attendees. Design and implement new and innovative legal and law-related training programs for service providers working with immigrant communities. Lead the development of training curricula in partnership with relevant subject matter experts, and ensure that training materials and structure are interactive, engaging, and relevant to participants. Conduct trainings on selected topics and recruit qualified trainers to train on other subjects. Legal Technical Assistance Lead technical assistance program for organizations seeking DOJ Recognition and Accreditation, including fielding questions, providing 1:1 consultation and application feedback, and facilitating group consultations. Plan and coordinate the delivery of legal technical assistance to immigration legal practitioners across NY state. Co-present periodic webinars on DOJ R&A for staff and volunteers of New York-based nonprofits. Represent NYIC on the national R&A working group. Monitoring, Data Analysis, Reporting, and Other Duties Adhere to all Ensure compliance with all requirements of an Accredited Provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) in New York State. Oversee training program logistics and participant experiences for training directly related to this area of programming. May supervise a Training Associate and/ or intern, by setting clear expectations, supporting professional development, and conducting performance management. Support NYIC Action, NYIC's affiliated 501(c)(4), as needed and consistent with organizational policies and applicable law. May occasionally move or carry materials weighing 50 pounds or less. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Requirements Recent and substantive experience working in immigration legal services, with strong understanding of the challenges of immigration legal practices and the need to respond rapidly to policy and procedure changes. i.e. Experience working as an accredited representative, paralegal, legal assistant, attorney, or other immigration legal services practitioner. Working knowledge of the fundamentals of the DOJ Recognition and Accreditation program and related processes. Strong facilitation, written communication, verbal communication, and relationship-management skills. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to rapid changing policies, procedures, and program needs. Ability to collaborate effectively with staff across teams and departments, funded partners, trainers, and legal service providers. Commitment to NYIC's mission and organizational values. You may be a strong candidate for the position if you have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Program date management, reporting, and compliance requirements. Design, development, and delivery of legal or law-related trainings for service providers working with immigrant communities. Development of training curricula in partnership with subject matter experts and creating interactive, engaging, and relevant training materials. Provision of technical assistance, consultation, or application feedback to immigration legal service providers; Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer. Salary : $75,800/year** **The NYIC has a transparent and equitable salary structure. Starting salaries for each position are set in advance with no room for negotiation. In addition to a competitive salary, the NYIC offers a full benefit plan, unlimited vacation time after 90 days of employment, paid sick time, commuter benefits and a comprehensive retirement plan.
