Job Title Trend Direction Designer About This Role: Workplace Arrangements: This role can be done predominately remotely but there is a travel component to our Home Office in Ottawa, our Buying Office in Laval Quebec, and across North America and overseas on a monthly-quarterly basis. What You'll Be Doing: Identify, develop and communicate seasonal trends, colour palettes and concept themes that inform assortment decisions and product development across assigned categories (Fashion, Home). Identify emerging consumer, product and retail trends that inform seasonal direction and support product development across assigned categories through ongoing market research, competitive shopping, trend forecasting, trade shows, sourcing trips, and vendor engagement. Develop and maintain trend presentations and seasonal direction tools that align buyers and support trend-right product decisions. Collaborate with internal partners, vendors and external trend resources to validate trend direction and continuously strengthen trend insights. Continuously improve trend and product development processes to simplify work, increase speed, and improve efficiency in support of Giant Tiger’s Hard Discount operating model Monitor trend adoption and identify opportunities to refine seasonal direction based on customer response and business performance. What You'll Bring: Post-secondary education in Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Design, Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in trend forecasting, product development, merchandising, buying, or a related retail role. Experience researching and interpreting consumer, fashion, product, and retail trends to inform business decisions. Experience developing seasonal trend presentations, colour palettes, concept themes, or similar creative direction tools. Experience analyzing customer, market, and competitive information to evaluate trend relevance and business opportunities. Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve efficiency. Ability to synthesize large amounts of market and consumer information into clear recommendations. Excellent presentation and visual communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; experience with Adobe Creative Suite and trend forecasting platforms (e.g., WGSN or similar) Assets You May Have: Experience in retail, private brand, consumer packaged goods, apparel, home décor, or hardgoods environments.
