UI/UX Designer (f/m/d) - Remote in Germany

Synera GmbH

🇩🇪Germany🏠Remote📁Design
Is this job info correct?

Hundreds of engineering tools. One platform to connect them to AI agents. We need the designer who can.

Integrating a couple of software tools for mechanical engineers into an AI automation platform is hard. Integrating 100+ and making them accessible to both human engineers and AI agents? That's a design challenge. We're looking for someone who can translate tool-specific complexity into visual patterns that scale, unlock complex engineering tools for AI agents to work with, and help our users automate their day-to-day in days, not months.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

We are looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to shape how engineers interact with complex simulation and analysis tools through our automation platform, from visual programming interfaces to AI-powered workflow building.

As part of a tightly knit product trio with your Product Manager and Tech Lead in our most technical product team, you'll help define how we integrate engineering tools into our platform. You'll work on translating tool-specific details into abstracted, interchangeable nodes, evolving our 3D viewer to support growing engineering domains, and designing AI-based experiences that help engineers build valuable automations in days instead of months.

At Synera, design isn't a handoff. It's a core part of how we build. You'll bring structure to technical ambiguity, collaborate closely with developers, and ensure that what we ship at lightning pace is not just functional, but truly intuitive for engineering users.

You'll do discovery, map complex and highly technical user journeys, and see the design cycle through concept to high-fidelity prototype. As one of four Synera UI/UX designers, you'll get your hands dirty: From designing individual node interfaces and creating patterns that scale across multiple engineering domains to our AI-based workflow builder that helps users translate their expertise into reliable automations.

Working closely with our users from mechanical engineering, CFD, and optimization backgrounds, you'll get firsthand feedback and real use cases to continuously refine the user experience.

If you're eager to own design at the intersection of complex engineering tools and AI automation, and have a visible impact from day one, we'd love to meet you.

👉 Your responsibilities span the full design cycle:

📣 Drive discovery & feedback loops

You engage with real users (mostly engineers from the aerospace or automotive industries) to gather insights, test assumptions, and continuously improve the experience based on real-world use. You'll learn about their engineering workflows and tool requirements to inform design decisions.

✨ UX concepts and UI design

You organize and facilitate design sessions, uncover and define user journeys for technical workflows, collaborate with the other UI/UX designers on our product's information architecture and prototype ideas in close collaboration with developers. From early concepts to polished designs: you own the experience. This includes designing node interfaces for integrated engineering tools and patterns for tool interchangeability. Oh, and did we mention icons? Lot’s of icons…

🤝 Work in the Product Trio

As part of the product trio with your Product Manager and Tech Lead you shape the product vision, gather requirements, and turn complexity into clarity. You'll translate technical tool specifications into user-friendly abstractions and be the voice of the user in a team that values engineering precision and usability equally.

⏱ Deliver Value Quickly but with Quality

As a fast-growing start-up, it's all about speed for us. You balance creativity with pragmatism to ensure high-quality designs while meeting sprint goals. We ship iteratively, and your designs will have a fast, visible impact, helping users achieve valuable automations in days versus months.

🌱 Strengthen Our Design Culture

You'll actively participate in design critiques among designers and help raise the bar across the company. We believe in growing together and maintaining a consistent, intuitive design system across the product.

⚡In the first 6 months: You start to take ownership of the design for engineering integration projects, developing new building blocks for our automation platform.

⚡By 12 months: You will have design ownership of the mechanical engineering capabilities of our platform, working on abstraction of complex workflows as well as expanding our platforms features as we approach new domains like fluid dynamics or electrical engineering.

Find the other designers of Synera on the photo and join our next company event to connect, relax, and have fun together with other Synerians!

🌱 WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

We believe in transparent conversations about compensation from the start. For this role, our planned salary range is:

  • Intermediate Level: 50,800-67,200 EUR

  • Experienced Level: 65,000-84,100 EUR

We determine the level we hire you for based on your experience, the scope of responsibilities you'll take on, and the impact you can drive. While we typically hire within these bands, we're open to some flexibility for candidates who bring exceptional value to the role.

Check out this page to learn how we approach salary, career growth, and creating an environment where everyone can shine.

What we offer beyond salary:

  • You actively contribute to shaping our products' look and feel as part of a multidisciplinary product team.

  • You see the impact of your work in every 4-month release.

  • You evaluate your designs with users from high-profile customers like BMW, NASA or Miele.

  • Enjoy true flexibility: work when and where it suits you, and swap public holidays to match your own values and beliefs (as long as you have residency in Germany).

  • Get home-office setup support + access to our office in Bremen.

  • Use your personal development budget of €2,000 to attend conferences and trainings or buy interesting books to improve in an area of your choice.

  • We don't count your vacation days, as we trust all our team members to decide what's best for them and the company.

  • Prefer two wheels over four? 🚲 We’ve got you covered with JobRad.

  • To support your personal and professional well-being, we offer company fitness with Wellpass and mental health platform nilo.

  • Join our regular team events, virtual coffee breaks, and spontaneous afterworks. We also get together as a whole company for 2-3 day off-sites twice a year! 🌈

🚀 WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Even if you don't meet these criteria perfectly but believe you have lots to bring to the role, we encourage you to apply. We know it's tough, but please keep in mind that you don't have to match all the listed requirements exactly to be considered for this role.

  • You resonate with Synera's Core Values - they're central to how we work, and we'll explore them together in your first interview.

  • You have 4+ years of hands-on UI/UX design experience designing products in the mechanical engineering space.

  • You have a good understanding of engineering processes, e.g. CAD modelling, simulations like FEA or CFD.

  • You have experience with 3D interfaces or visualization tools.

  • You have a proven track record of end-to-end design ownership, from discovery research through shipped product.

  • You have strong visual design skills: You have a sharp eye for layout, typography, color, and can demonstrate polished UI work in your portfolio.

  • You have Figma proficiency at a level where you're pushing the tool's limits, not learning basics.

  • You have experience working in product trios or closely embedded with PMs and engineers in agile/iterative environments.

  • You can manage ambiguity: You've worked in early-stage products, pivots, or fast-moving teams where you had to define the path forward.

  • Your super English skills help you to work in an international environment.

Bonus points - cherry on top 🍰

  • You're familiar with complex design systems or component libraries.

  • You have a background in visual programming tools, no-code/low-code platforms, or workflow automation.

  • You have an understanding of AI/ML product patterns (agentic systems, prompt interfaces, etc.).

  • You are based in Bremen or open to relocating. We do offer remote working within Germany; however, for key roles like UX, we’ve found that close in-person collaboration works best.

Synera is a place where everyone can grow and every voice is valued. So, however you identify yourself and whatever background you have, if this role excites you, please apply with your English CV (no photo and birth date needed :)) and portfolio. Tell us how your unique perspective will benefit our Design team.

Why Synera?

Synera is an AI automation platform for engineers that drastically accelerates product development, as proven by numerous customers in the automotive, aerospace and consumer goods industries such as Airbus, BMW, EDAG and Miele. We achieve this by integrating engineering tools, data, and expert knowledge into a low-code environment that helps engineers create digital coworkers and automate complex processes.

We change the way product development works and are looking for a UX Designer (f/m/d). Do you want to join?
