The Eurofins network is dedicated to delivering testing services that contribute to the health and safety of society and the planet, and to its corporate responsibility to protect the environment and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion across its companies around the world. We’re proud to be an armed forces-friendly place to work and welcome applications from reservists, armed forces veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), as well as cadet instructors, and military spouses and partners. If you want to continue to help make our world a safer and healthier place, then apply for the role below and become a part of the extraordinary Eurofins network This role can be based anywhere in the UK; however, as it is a hybrid position, candidates must be within reasonable commuting distance of one of our UK Food & Water Testing sites. We are looking for a dynamic and commercially minded Business Controller to join our UK Food business and play a key role in supporting the Head of Finance and senior operational leaders. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys combining robust financial control with meaningful business partnering in a varied, fast-paced environment. Working closely with the UK National Service Centre (NSC), Cluster Directors and Business Unit leaders, you will coordinate and deliver accurate, timely month-end processes while ensuring compliance with Group accounting and reporting standards. You will produce, analyse and clearly communicate both standard and ad-hoc financial reports, turning complex data into practical insights that support effective decision-making, financial performance and the continued development of our operational business sectors. You will also take operational ownership of the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts, coordinating inputs across the business and ensuring all submissions are completed accurately and in line with Group standards and deadlines. The hybrid nature of the role offers a balance of collaboration, operational exposure and flexibility, making it ideal for someone who is proactive, influential and keen to make a visible impact across the business. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 09:00 till 17:00. As a hybrid role you will be typically required to be onsite two days per week. Additional office attendance may be needed to meet business requirements, and regular travel to operational sites forms an important part of building strong relationships and understanding business performance. Month-End Close: Coordinate and deliver an accurate and timely month-end close, ensuring all operational, statutory and Group reporting requirements are met. Financial Reporting and Insight: Present monthly results and business performance to senior leaders, providing clear variance analysis, insightful commentary and high-quality routine and ad-hoc reporting. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the coordination, consolidation and submission of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts for the UK Food business. Partner with the Head of Finance and other Business Controllers to continuously simplify and improve the process, ensuring accuracy, clarity and compliance with Group standards and deadlines. Process Improvement: Identify and deliver improvements that strengthen financial governance, controls and operational support, including greater use of automation and AI to reduce non-value-added activity and create capacity for more insightful analysis. Finance Director Support: Act as a trusted partner to the Head of Finance, providing high-quality financial and commercial support and deputising when required to maintain effective financial leadership, decision-making and stakeholder engagement. Business Partnering: Serve as a trusted finance partner to operational teams, Cluster Directors and senior management, translating financial insight into clear commercial actions and aligning priorities to support strategic objectives and informed decision-making. Business Support: Undertake ad-hoc financial analysis, projects and other duties in response to changing business priorities and requirements. Accruals Management: Review and enhance the accruals process to improve accuracy, consistency, control and transparency across the business. Data Analysis and Transactional Control: Interpret and analyse core transactional data supplied by the NSC, adapting it where required to support operational decision-making. Work collaboratively with the NSC to ensure Operations Finance receives complete, accurate and timely information and that transactions are processed correctly. Operational Engagement: Build strong relationships across the business through regular site visits, developing a detailed understanding of local operations, performance drivers, risks and opportunities. Spending &Contracting Authority (S&CA) and Most Current Estimate (MCE): Prepare and coordinate detailed S&CA and MCE calculations and submissions, ensuring they are accurate, completed on time and compliant with local and Group requirements. Capital Expenditure: Lead the calculation, consolidation and monitoring of capital expenditure, ensuring spend remains aligned with approved budgets and Group guidance. Prepare the relevant MCE and S&CA documentation to support robust governance and compliance. Cost and Margin Performance: Partner with the Head of OPEX and their team to review and constructively challenge actual performance against predicted margins, identifying key drivers, risks and improvement opportunities. Net Working Capital: Support the Head of Finance in driving agreed net working capital actions, monitoring progress and identifying further opportunities to improve cash performance across the business to meet group targets A fully qualified accountant, with a strong grounding in financial accounting and control. Sound knowledge of month-end accounting cycles, financial controls and relevant accounting standards. Comfortable working collaboratively within a small, fast-paced team and delivering high-quality work to demanding deadlines. Proven ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical insight for non-finance managers and directors. Confident and effective communicator, able to build credibility and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify key performance drivers, risks and opportunities. Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills, with the confidence to work with large and complex data sets.
