Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Required: ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging, and audience-focused content. ● Knowledge of social media platforms, content management, and best practices for digital engagement. ● Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in branding, design, and content presentation. ● Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. ● Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders. Preferred: ● Basic graphic design skills and an understanding of visual communication principles. ● Experience with WordPress, including the Gutenberg (Block) Editor. ● Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Canva. ● Basic photography, videography, and image optimization skills. ● Demonstrated creativity and enthusiasm for storytelling through digital media. ● Experience using AI-assisted content creation tools, such as ChatGPT or Adobe Firefly. ● Willingness to learn emerging digital communication technologies. Position Summary/Job Duties: The LSC Undergraduate Social Media Assistant will work under the direction of the Department Communications Graduate Assistant to support the Department’s public image, digital communications, and promotional initiatives. Job Duties: ● Work under the direction of the Department Communications Graduate Assistant to support departmental communications, marketing, and outreach initiatives. ● Assist with maintaining and updating the LSC website, including creating new web pages, implementing good search engine optimization (SEO) practices, and maintaining site usability. ● Generate content for the LSC website and social media accounts, including drafting captions and promotional copy. ● Assist in creating graphics and short-form digital content for social media, websites, and departmental promotions. ● Assist in photographing and recording video at departmental events, including colloquia, guest speakers, student activities, graduation-related events, and recruitment activities. ● Assist with basic photo and video editing for departmental communications. ● Implement LSC branding initiatives across campus and within the broader community. ● Moderate and engage with followers on LSC social media accounts. ● Assist with monitoring social media performance and preparing engagement reports. ● Manage and organize relevant files and databases. ● Other duties as assigned.
