Underwriting Assistant

Job Description This is a remote position. About CK Specialty CK Specialty Insurance Associates is a family-owned, entrepreneurial wholesale insurance brokerage specializing in hard-to-place commercial risks in the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market. We partner with retail agents nationwide to provide creative insurance solutions for unique businesses. We are seeking a highly capable, detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to support a large and active book of wholesale E&S business. What You'll Do Provide day-to-day underwriting and administrative support for a high-volume wholesale E&S book of business Prepare, process, and track submissions, quotes, binders, endorsements, renewals, and other policy-related transactions Review submissions and policy information for completeness, accuracy, and consistency Obtain and organize information from retail agents, carriers, underwriters, and other parties Follow up on outstanding information, quotes, documents, and requests to keep business moving Maintain accurate and organized records in internal systems Assist with renewal preparation and follow-up to ensure business is handled timely Track deadlines, outstanding items, and workflow across multiple accounts Communicate professionally and efficiently with retail agents, carriers, and internal team members Identify issues or missing information before they become problems Research questions and find solutions independently when possible Anticipate the needs of the owner and proactively address routine matters Handle changing priorities and urgent requests without losing attention to detail Support additional underwriting and operational needs as required Requirements What We're Looking For Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy Highly organized and able to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously Fast and efficient without sacrificing quality Resourceful problem-solver who looks for answers Strong follow-through and a high sense of ownership Able to recognize what needs to be done and take action independently Comfortable working in a demanding, high-accountability environment Resilient and able to handle direct feedback and high expectations Professional, dependable, and responsive Comfortable working with urgency and changing priorities Qualifications 2+ years of experience in commercial insurance, preferably wholesale E&S Experience working with E&S, surplus lines, or specialty insurance is strongly preferred Active P&C license is a plus, but not required This Role May Not Be a Good Fit If… You prefer a slow-paced, low-pressure work environment.
