Role Description: As an Underwriting Portfolio Management Analyst, you will support the Underwriting Portfolio Management (UPM) function by transforming internal and external data into actionable intelligence that improves business decisions. You will analyze portfolio performance, evaluate competitive positioning, identify emerging market trends, and uncover strategic opportunities. Working closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, finance, business intelligence, and advanced analytics teams, you will translate complex business questions into analytical solutions and meaningful recommendations. In this role, you will lead end-to-end data analysis projects, continually identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and insight generation. You will source, validate, and analyze internal and external data; apply business and insurance knowledge to interpret findings; develop intuitive and compelling visualizations; and communicate insights through clear written deliverables and engaging presentations. Success in this role requires intellectual curiosity, strong analytical capabilities, insurance acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex findings into actionable business insights. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in risk management, analytics, finance, economics or a related field is required. Relevant post-graduate studies and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in a related field. Required Qualifications: 1 or more years of experience in an analyst role. Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills through academic, research, internship, or project experience. Ability to collect, cleanse, organize, validate, and analyze data to solve business problems and test hypotheses. Familiarity with analytical and data modeling techniques including segmentation, forecasting, handling outliers, benchmarking, and predictive analysis. Intellectual curiosity and demonstrated ability to investigate ambiguous business questions, identify relevant data, test hypotheses, and develop evidence-based conclusions. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across functions. Experience communicating findings through reports, dashboards, presentations, or other data visualizations. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business insights. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with current analytical, business intelligence and visualization tools. Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future. This position allows for a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of 3 days per week in our St. Louis Corporate Office, located at 1832 Schuetz Rd. Saint Louis, MO. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with data visualization tools outside of Microsoft Excel, such as Power BI or Tableau. Experience applying statistical, predictive, or other data modeling techniques through academic, research, internship, or professional project experience. Familiarity with AI productivity tools, prompt engineering, custom GPTs, or other emerging analytical technologies. Experience conducting market research, competitive intelligence, or external data research. Project or professional experience in insurance, financial services, or consulting. Interest in developing deeper expertise in data modeling, advanced analytics, or actuarial science, and their application to underwriting and portfolio decision-making.
