About UPchieve is an edtech nonprofit that provides free, 24/7 online tutoring and college counseling to low-income students nationwide. Using our app, students can request and get paired with a live, volunteer tutor in under 5 minutes. Our mission is to close the college enrollment gap between low- and high-income students so that all students have an equal opportunity to achieve upward mobility. We’ve matched 350,000+ requests from 50,000+ students across all 50 states. Our work has also been recognized by Forbes and TIME, and our funders include both Y Combinator and the Gates Foundation. Watch this video to see our impact on students. Who we’re looking for We’re a small team taking on the monumental challenge of democratizing access to academic support. That means we need team members who are excited by autonomy and willing to work on projects outside the scope of their job description if needed. We also look for candidates who have a personal connection to our cause or a demonstrable interest in education or serving low-income populations. Our team We’re a remote-first team located across the U.S. We highly value diversity of experiences & perspectives. The majority of the team are people of color, and many of us have experience growing up low-income or navigating nontraditional educational pathways We believe working full-time means 40 hrs/wk. Non-work stuff is important too! We get together in person 2x/year to foster connection as a remote team: Once for an all-staff retreat, and once for a department offsite. Our benefits 3 weeks paid vacation AND 20+ paid holidays (including Dec 24-Jan 1) Flexible work schedule (choose your own hours) $1000/year professional development stipend $1000/year remote work stipend Free health insurance for employees AND their families 401ks with a 6% employer contribution Half-day fridays half the year Job Description About the role UPchieve's National Tutoring Honor Society launched just months ago and already has 1,000+ members across the country. This part-time role (10 hours/week) sits at the center of it all. The NTHS Coordinator owns the day-to-day operations of the society: recruiting and developing chapter leaders, building the systems that let student leaders run their own chapters successfully, and keeping the whole community engaged, recognized, and on track to hit growth goals. This is a role for someone who is as comfortable coaching a struggling chapter leader through a rough week as they are building a Zapier automation to streamline their interview pipeline. Expect some evening and weekend availability to meet with student leaders after school hours. This is a part-time contract role with a minimum one-year commitment. What you’ll do… Chapter Leader Development (30%) Design and run a scalable interview process to screen and onboard incoming chapter leaders efficiently. Lead weekly touch points with chapter leaders to track progress, surface blockers, and keep momentum going. Hold regular office hours so leaders always have somewhere to turn. Step in proactively with chapters that are off track, troubleshooting alongside leaders to get things back on course. Member Engagement and Growth (40%) Design and release recruitment collateral that helps chapters grow their local membership. Create engaging member campaigns, track results, and deliver rewards and certificates that make students feel genuinely recognized. Host feedback sessions with students and use what you learn to propose program improvements. Meet growth goals for society membership and chapter activity, reporting on progress weekly to the Program Director. Coordinate with school staff as needed to support chapter leaders and navigate school policies. Building for Scale (30%) Manage a team of National Student Leads (NSLs) who serve as peer mentors and a force multiplier for the program. Train and equip NSLs to host their own office hours, field questions, and mentor cohorts of chapter leaders so the program can grow without everything running through you. Build communication systems that keep students connected and protected, with clear protocols that maintain safety at every touchpoint. Keep the NTHS knowledge hub current so chapter leaders can always find what they need without having to ask. Compensation: $25/hr Preferred Experience This might be the right job for you if… You genuinely love working with ambitious high schoolers, and you know how to communicate in ways that land with them. You thrive without hand-holding. You're always finding a problem worth solving, not waiting for someone to assign you one. You can build a scalable system and then explain it to a 16-year-old so they can run it themselves. You know that student safety is non-negotiable and you take communication protocols seriously. You're energized by community building, not just program management. You'd rather build a Zapier automation than do the same task twice. Available for evening meetings (up to 8pm) to connect with student leaders after school. Experience 1-2 years of experience working with high school or college students in an educational, extracurricular, or community setting. Experience managing volunteers or student leaders, ideally in a virtual or hybrid environment. Experience building or running programs with multiple moving parts and stakeholders. Bonus: experience with honor societies, student organizations, or national youth programs. Bonus: CS majors or candidates comfortable with no-code tools encouraged to apply! Additional Information Contract Type: Part-Time Start Date: 15 August 2026 Location: Brooklyn Education Level: No Diploma Experience: > 1 year Possible full remote
