López & Co. CPAs is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our Mexico City team and support accounting and audit engagements for U.S.-based clients.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Mexico. Candidates must be able to work in person at our Mexico City office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Compensation

💰 Monthly salary budget: $35,000–$40,000 MXN, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accounting, financial reporting, and audit-related activities.

• Prepare account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.

• Analyze financial information and identify discrepancies or unusual items.

• Support audit engagements through documentation, testing, and client follow-up.

• Maintain accurate and organized workpapers.

• Follow up on pending client information and help keep engagements on schedule.

• Communicate with internal team members and U.S.-based clients when required.

• Work with cloud-based accounting, audit, and project management platforms.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Previous experience in accounting, audit, or financial reporting.

• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals.

• Advanced English, both written and spoken.

• Strong Excel skills.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills.

• High attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

• Proactive communication and ownership of assigned responsibilities.

• Comfortable working with U.S.-based teams and clients.

Experience with U.S. GAAP, audit procedures, nonprofit organizations, or U.S.-based accounting engagements is a plus.
