The role will support Church Leaders in implementing education, employment and self-reliance initiatives, particularly for youth, young adults and returned missionaries, while also overseeing humanitarian projects, representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Charities, and building interpersonal partnerships and with local and national organizations. The manager will work closely with Area Seventies, Stake and Ward leaders, Mission Presidents, education and employment committees, full-time and service missionaries, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of services and alignment with Church priorities The successful candidate will have shared responsibility across Welfare & Self Reliance, and Humanitarian duties, with an approximately equal focus in both areas, including being an effective trainer, facilitator and communicator. Welfare & Self-Reliance: Achieve Annual Area Functional Plan objectives by supporting Area Seventies, Stake/District and Ward/Branch leaders, Stake Committees, Mission Leaders, Country Education and Employment Committees (CEECs), and other stakeholders. Lead assigned full-time missionaries, church-service missionaries, and volunteers in welfare and self-reliance efforts, and develop and share resources that bless members. Focus on implementing the Area Presidency’s vision by increasing education and awareness, creating pathways to meaningful employment for the rising generation and returned missionaries on their covenant path, partnering, supporting and training Church leaders in their welfare and self-reliance responsibilities. Humanitarian: Design, develop, implement, and manage regional and country-wide humanitarian projects; support the Emergency Response Committee by serving as a key contact and overseeing emergency response efforts; partner and manage relationships of trust with key stakeholders, including internal and external relationships. Bachelor’s degree in business, International Development, Humanitarian Work, or a related field (master’s preferred), or equivalent work experience in business, sales, marketing or related discipline. 6-8 years’ experience in program, project, education, employment, community development, welfare, humanitarian or related disciplines. Including at least 2 years of direct management experience. Proven project management skills and experience, with a high level of analytical and creative skills; strong computer skills. Ability to effectively and personally represent The Church of Jesus Christ Charities and the Church to Corporate level executives and ministry level government officials. Church leadership experience with demonstrated understanding of welfare, self-reliance and humanitarian principles in education, employment and relevant Church settings, including humanitarian activities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing. Fluency in English. Local language(s) is highly desirable. Must be able and willing to travel.
