SUMMARY: The Virtual Design and Construction Technician (VDC Tech) is responsible for creating models and/or drawing sets using the standards that Interstates has established. A VDC Tech collaborates with others to learn best practices and incorporates design decisions into deliverables. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Create deliverable sets based on direction from others by navigating systems and operating tools efficiently. • Learn tool functionality by researching and leveraging mentorship and other available resources. • Continuously improve methods and efficiency by collaborating with others • Modify models, data, or drawing sets based on direction from others. • Communicate effectively using virtual and in-person collaboration tools with internal and external teams. • Apply model and scope changes by adjusting deliverables as required. • Document and archive revisions by adhering to established procedures. • Follow project workflows and agreed upon standards to meet typical deliverable requirements and schedules. • Perform self-checks to identify and correct major errors and deviations from best practices. • Assist in peer reviewing others’ work to ensure compliance with established standards. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Self-perform advanced design tasks with direction. • Provide continuous improvement suggestions for tools and processes. • Work directly with manufacturing and construction teams to deliver constructable design. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or an applicable associate degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical college is required. Candidates with 1-2 years of experience in a virtual design, construction, or related technical field are preferred. A combination of relevant education and hands-on experience will also be considered in place of formal education requirements.
