What To Expect As the VP & GM of Workers’ Comp, you’ll be responsible for the profitability and growth for all Workers’ Compensation programs. You will utilize a combination of traditional and innovative underwriting methods. You’ll oversee our premium audit teams and program-specific underwriting teams, guide appetite expansion, and ensure profitability and compliance. You’ll partner across the leadership team to set the tone for a modern, tech-forward underwriting culture and build scalable and innovative solutions for businesses. This role reports to the President. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility at manager’s discretion. What You’ll Do Partnering closely with the Chief Strategist, Insurance Programs & Risk Capital, set and evolve EverPeak’s underwriting strategy across assigned lines and programs of business, balancing growth with profitability and risk management. Cultivate and maintain relationships with carriers, reinsurers, and reinsurance brokers, distribution partners, and other key stakeholders. Partner closely with Sales and Distribution to develop strategies for growth, while maintaining profitability from a loss ratio perspective. Accountable for assigned programs’ books of business and responsible for achieving key financial, business and customer objectives and performance metrics according to overall strategy. Collaborate with the Chief Underwriting Officer to oversee underwriting guidelines and processes, ensuring they’re aligned with company goals and regulatory standards. Provide oversight and continuously monitor claims activity, proactively identify adverse development trends to inform program pricing and appetite adjustments. Lead and mentor audit teams and program-specific underwriting teams, ensuring clear accountability, continuous development, and operational excellence, fostering a team culture of continuous process improvement and open communication; promote teamwork and cooperation within team and throughout organization. Identify and champion opportunities for continuous process innovation to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience. Remain current on the external environment for industry leading tools, technology, analytics and best practices to continuously improve EverPeak’s customer value proposition and partner with Product and Engineering to build a scalable and efficient platform. Provide expertise and participate on cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate new product opportunities, coverage expansions, and program partnerships. Collaborate with the Actuarial, Insurance Programs & Risk Capital, and Finance teams to analyze portfolio performance and loss trends, partnering with the National Underwriting Officer, Workers’ Compensation to recommend pricing or risk selection changes. Within assigned programs, partner with Legal & Compliance to ensure strict compliance with state and carrier regulations, and be ultimately responsible for execution of all carrier and regulatory audits regarding policy operations and underwriting guidelines. Serve as a key voice in company-wide strategic planning, bringing an operating and underwriting lens to business decisions and roadmaps. Perform other duties as assigned.
