Description JOB SUMMARY The Vice President (VP) of Operational Excellence and Business Analytics role at Baylor Genetics will provide executive-level leadership for driving enterprise-wide efforts to improve operational efficiencies through Lean Continuous Improvement, streamlining of value-streams, and deployment of AI. The position will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement, develop execution strategies, and implement processes to achieve transformational objectives & key results (OKRs). This position will also lead the development and implementation of business intelligence and key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, service (TAT), cost efficiency and cash effectiveness. The leader for this role will be a champion and driver of Lean Continuous Improvement, focusing on waste elimination, defect reduction and creating a kaizen culture across the company. This leader will be expected to lay the groundwork for processes and systems for creating business intelligence dashboards, metrics reporting and linkages of KPIs to employee goals, objectives, and incentives. Where KPIs show opportunities for improvement, this role will lead the prioritization of initiatives that will reduce waste, improve quality and service, and will ultimately drive growth in both top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement a company-wide operational excellence strategy to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction. Provide leadership, strategy and tactics to achieve world-class capability and capacity across the company’s lab diagnostics value streams and supply chain. Provide direction and change management leadership to deliver and sustain best-in-class Safety, Quality, Service, Cost & Cash performance. Build the foundation of a continuous improvement and ‘zero-defect’ culture. Develop and implement metrics, KPIs and reporting tools to monitor progress and measure the success of our operational excellence initiatives and to drive profitable growth. Identify and implement best practices from other industries and across the laboratories to improve processes and systems. Facilitate innovative solutions for strengthening methods and tools. Collaborate with other leaders in the organization to ensure alignment and support for operational excellence initiatives. Function as a change agent through process improvement opportunities, leadership, and strategic vision. Consistently deliver a clear communications program regarding operational excellence programs and processes to specific employee audiences on an ongoing, proactive basis. Manage employee performance by coaching, counseling, motivating, and evaluating employees on a continual basis. Ensure effective employee relations by sustaining an ethical, non-discriminatory, and safe work environment and establishing effective communication lines and methods. Identify and solve employee problems, manage conflict, and respond to grievances as needed. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry’s best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data. Become familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including privacy and security policies. QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field from an accredited college is required. 15 years of progressive experience in Operations and/or Operations Excellence 5+ years in senior leadership roles (Exec Dir/VP or above), Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of clinical diagnostic laboratory testing and associated KPIs. Expertise in laboratory-related client services, logistics, clinical operations, client-facing processes, patient-facing processes, and revenue cycle management. Depth in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and the importance of linking commercial testing volume growth with the key elements of capacity (4M’s) Technical and Leadership Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of Lean Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma. Proven track record of “builder” skills, with the ability to motivate teams to drive operational excellence in a growth-stage company. Strong analytical skills to evaluate and identify improvement opportunities. Deep understanding of capacity, capacity constraints, and capacity analytics to plan for extreme growth Leadership Experience: Experience as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to high-level decision-making and strategy execution. Proven ability to lead and manage a high-performing team while fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Customer-centric mindset to enhance satisfaction and trust. Experience in high-growth or complex healthcare organizations Experience preferably in the clinical laboratory diagnostics and/or MedTech industry.. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to work in an office or laboratory setting, with travel up to 50% to support on-site kaizen and operational improvement workshops. Ability to sit for extended periods and operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and other technology tools. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
