Role Description The Vietnamese OPI/VRI Interpreter – Remote is a full-time role responsible for providing high-quality, real-time interpretation between Vietnamese and English over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI). On a day-to-day basis, the interpreter facilitates accurate, impartial communication between clients and their customers or service users in settings such as customer support, healthcare, government, legal, and business interactions. Responsibilities include listening carefully, conveying messages faithfully and concisely, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to professional ethics and Kalamcx policies. The interpreter will manage scheduled and on-demand calls, document basic session details where required, and use company platforms and tools to handle remote sessions. This is a fully remote position, requiring a quiet, professional workspace and reliable internet connectivity.

Qualifications

• Strong language proficiency: native or near-native fluency in Vietnamese and excellent command of English, with clear, professional speaking skills in both languages.
• Demonstrated interpreting abilities: experience in consecutive interpretation (OPI/VRI), active listening, note-taking, and accurate message transfer without omissions or additions is a plus.
• Customer interaction skills: ability to remain calm and courteous, manage sensitive or complex conversations, and provide a professional, empathetic experience to all parties.
• Remote work capabilities: reliable high-speed internet, good quality headset and webcam, quiet workspace, and comfort using online communication platforms and call center tools.
• Professional standards: strong sense of confidentiality, adherence to interpreter ethics, punctuality, and consistency in meeting schedules and performance expectations.
• Organizational skills: ability to handle multiple sessions, follow procedures, record basic session information when required, and manage time effectively in a virtual environment.
• Preferred background: prior experience as an interpreter or in customer support, call centers, or BPO environments; familiarity with sectors such as healthcare, legal, or public services is a plus.
• Education and training: high school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in interpreting or language studies is an advantage.
