About The Role Volta is building a global portfolio of AI infrastructure at a pace and scale few companies have attempted – billions of dollars of capital deployed across data centers, power infrastructure, and compute clusters on multiple continents. Keeping that portfolio on time, on budget, and on plan is mission-critical, and that's where you come in. As VP, Project Controls Function Manager, you will own the systems, standards, and team that give Volta's leadership a clear, real-time view of cost, schedule, and risk across every active project. You will report directly to the CDO and act as a trusted advisor on capital deployment and delivery risk, translating complex, multi-site programs into clear decisions for the executive team and the Board. This is a build-it-yourself mandate: you'll stand up scalable project controls processes and tooling from the ground up, and build the team that will run them as Volta's footprint continues to grow. What You Will Be Doing Lead the project controls function across Volta's global portfolio of data center and infrastructure builds Establish standardized cost control, scheduling, and risk management frameworks across all active projects Partner with construction, engineering, and finance teams to track budgets, forecasts, and variance against plan Build and maintain integrated master schedules across multi-billion-dollar capital projects Develop dashboards and reporting cadences that give executive leadership and the Board a clear view of portfolio health Identify schedule and cost risks early, and drive mitigation plans in partnership with project teams Own the change management process, ensuring scope changes are properly evaluated, approved, and documented Recruit, lead, and develop a team of project controls managers and analysts as the portfolio scales Drive continuous improvement of project controls tools, systems, and processes (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore) Serve as a key advisor to the COO on capital deployment, delivery risk, and portfolio prioritization What You Bring 12+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or program management, ideally within data center, energy, or large-scale infrastructure construction Proven track record managing project controls across multi-billion-dollar capital programs Deep expertise in scheduling software (Primavera P6 or similar) and cost management systems Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management (EVM) Experience building project controls functions and teams from the ground up Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to present to C-suite and Board-level audiences Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or a related field; PMP or equivalent certification a plus Experience working across global, multi-site portfolios in a high-growth environment
