Job Title : VP, Software Engineering Reporting to : Chief Technology Officer Location : Remote, US Department : Engineering Role Description At Quickbase, our mission is to help organizations tackle complexity and move faster by empowering anyone to build solutions. We're seeking a VP of Engineering to raise the bar on how we run our engineering organization, accelerate innovation across the core Quickbase platform, and help shape how AI becomes part of both our products and the way we build software. This leader will bring a fresh, outside perspective to our operating rigor: how we plan, execute, measure, and continuously improve. In the near term, their primary focus will be the core Quickbase platform - strengthening execution and operational excellence while partnering closely with Product to shape and deliver AI capabilities that create meaningful customer value. They will create the conditions, technical foundations, and execution discipline that allow teams to move from ideas to customer value faster. As we evolve how we build software ourselves, this leader will partner closely with the engineering leader driving our agentic engineering transformation, helping teams adopt effective AI development practices and translating that work into operating practices, expectations, and metrics across the broader engineering organization. Reporting to the CTO and partnering with the leadership team, this executive will combine strong product and technical leadership with operational excellence and cutting edge agentic development - building a high-performing, globally distributed engineering organization capable of evolving the core platform and supporting new product opportunities over time. Responsibilities Own Operational Excellence for Quickbase: Bring a fresh, outside perspective to how we run our core platform. Raise the bar on reliability, scalability, security, and delivery predictability — establishing the operational rigor and metrics that let Quickbase scale confidently and run efficiently. Drive Engineering Efficiency & Accelerate Innovation: Identify and remove friction across the software delivery lifecycle - planning, execution, tooling, and process - to improve throughput and predictability without sacrificing quality. Build the reporting and metrics discipline needed to continuously find and act on efficiency gains, while creating an environment where teams can experiment, learn, and translate new technologies and ideas into customer value faster. Shape and Deliver AI Capabilities for Quickbase: Partner closely with Product to shape the strategy and technical direction for how AI becomes part of the core Quickbase product experience. Own the engineering strategy, architecture, organization, and execution required to turn that direction into scalable capabilities customers trust and use. Advance AI Development Practices Across Engineering: Work closely with the engineering leader driving our adoption of agentic development practices and tools. Bring strong AI fluency and help teams adopt effective AI-assisted and agentic approaches in their day-to-day work. Lead by example in applying these tools to improve how engineering teams build, test, learn, make decisions, and deliver, while reinforcing the change through engineering leadership, operating practices, and measurable outcomes. Global Organizational Leadership & Mentorship: Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing, globally distributed engineering organization, including our R&D hub in Bulgaria and other worldwide teams. Develop the next generation of engineering leaders and foster a culture of ownership, craft, and continuous learning. Cross-Functional Product Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product, UX, Customer Experience, and GTM leadership to shape product and engineering strategy around customer needs and business outcomes. Bring strong technical judgment to product decisions across the core Quickbase platform, particularly as AI capabilities become a more important part of the builder experience, while helping evaluate and support emerging product opportunities over time. Talent & Leadership Development: Attract, develop, and retain world-class engineering leaders. Mentor senior leaders and create an environment where teams can do the best work of their careers. Customer & Platform Impact: Champion the development of intuitive, powerful solutions that solve real customer problems. Help ensure AI capabilities within Quickbase are useful, trusted, and integrated into experiences that make builders more effective, while maintaining the reliability and usability customers expect from the platform. Professional Experience 15+ years of engineering experience, including 8–10+ years in senior leadership roles (VP or equivalent) within SaaS or enterprise software platforms Proven track record driving operational excellence and efficiency for a mature, at-scale SaaS platform — with measurable improvements to delivery predictability, reliability, and throughput Experience evolving a mature product platform while also supporting new product or technology opportunities as they emerge Experience leading the development and delivery of AI-enabled products or platform capabilities, with the technical judgment to navigate emerging architectures and translate rapidly evolving technology into durable customer value Strong AI fluency, with evidence of driving meaningful organizational or engineering change through the practical application of AI-assisted or agentic tooling - improving how teams build, operate, make decisions, or deliver customer value Demonstrated success leading globally distributed engineering teams across multiple sites and time zones Track record of leading through organizational and technological change, including platform shifts and new product paradigms, with a bias toward accelerating innovation and turning emerging technologies into measurable business and customer outcomes Deep understanding of low-code/no-code ecosystems, integrations, and workflow orchestration is strongly preferred Strong executive presence, with the ability to influence across the leadership team and board-level stakeholders Why Join Quickbase Quickbase empowers tens of thousands of business builders to create custom solutions without code. Over time, the role will also help shape and support emerging product opportunities, including Pave. Pay Range $206,500.00 - $324,500.00 Compensation & Benefits: At Quickbase, we believe in pay transparency and are committed to equitable pay practices. Incentive Compensation This role is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
