ABOUT THE ROLE Overview: The School of Wildlife Conservation is working on an exciting research project that examines the scale and potential of the wildlife economy in Africa. As part of the project, the SOWC is developing various country case studies on the current status of the wildlife economy, its potential, and the existing associated regulatory frameworks. Nature and scope of work: The research intern will support the SOWC team in collecting, collating, analysing, and reporting on data from various African countries, databases, and literature to be included in the relevant country case studies and related reports. The candidate needs to have a good working knowledge of Excel (other statistics programmes would be an advantage) and Word, as well as good research, writing and presenting skills. Skills: Attention to detail, good time management, very organised, proficiency in Google Sheets and Google Docs, data analysis, data cleaning and visualisation skills, excellent writing skills, ability to work under pressure, and good interpersonal skills. Design experience and knowledge to develop social media products related to the research. A good knowledge of French and or Portuguese (reading and writing) would be an advantage, though not required. Conservation knowledge and experience is required. Skill development plan: The student will develop skills in data collection, collation, analysis, reporting and presenting, as well as a greater understanding of the wildlife economy in Africa and the related data and information gaps. Number of vacancies: 1 part-time intern Working time: Part-time (20 hours a week) Location: Remote
