Workday Software Development Engineer:
Our client is seeking a Workday Software Development Engineer to design, enhance, and support Workday integrations and technical solutions across a complex enterprise environment. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on Workday development experience, a solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns, and the ability to translate business and technical requirements into secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
This role is fully remote. Applicants must reside in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Oregon, or North Dakota.
Workday Software Development Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday web services, REST and SOAP APIs, XML, XSLT, JSON, SFTP, and other secure integration methods.
- Build and maintain integrations connecting Workday with enterprise HR, payroll, benefits, finance, data, identity, service management, vendor, and compliance platforms.
- Translate functional and technical requirements into integration designs, data mappings, transformation logic, calculated fields, validation rules, error-handling processes, scheduling requirements, and deployment plans.
- Develop and maintain Workday reports, calculated fields, business process configurations, integration attributes, security configurations, notifications, and supporting application functionality.
- Troubleshoot integration failures, data discrepancies, access issues, performance concerns, and downstream processing errors through analysis of integration events, application logs, source and target data, business process history, and system responses.
- Support technical solutions across Workday functional areas such as HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Expenses, Financials, organizational structures, and security.
- Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, technology teams, enterprise architecture, security, data engineering, vendors, and support teams to deliver enhancements and resolve production issues.
- Support Workday release cycles by assessing technical impacts, performing regression testing, validating production readiness, and implementing approved integration and configuration changes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including integration specifications, data mappings, data flows, inventories, monitoring procedures, and operational support materials.
- Apply secure development practices when integrating or processing employee, payroll, financial, personally identifiable, and other sensitive enterprise data.
- Improve the reliability and efficiency of the Workday environment by simplifying integrations, automating repeatable processes, strengthening monitoring, and modernizing legacy integration patterns.
- Provide production support, including incident triage, root-cause analysis, issue resolution, scheduled maintenance, and occasional after-hours support for critical processes.
Workday Software Development Engineer Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software development, enterprise applications, systems integration, HRIS/ERP technology, or application support, including 3+ years of hands-on Workday technical experience.
- Strong experience developing and supporting Workday integrations using Workday Studio, including Report Designer, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday APIs/web services, REST, SOAP, XML, XSLT, JSON, SFTP, and secure file transfer methods.
- Experience with Workday technical configuration, including calculated fields, custom reports, business processes, integration events, data sources, security groups, and tenant configuration concepts.
- Strong knowledge of integration design, data mapping and transformation, error handling, testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and production support practices.
- Experience with software development and delivery tools or practices such as Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, scripting, monitoring, or observability.
- Experience with SQL, data reconciliation, data quality validation, reporting, and supporting downstream enterprise data consumption.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- Experience with Snowflake and AWS Glue.
- Experience integrating Workday with enterprise platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, ServiceNow, Salesforce, identity management solutions, payroll or benefits providers, finance systems, or enterprise data platforms.
- Experience supporting Workday modules such as HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Expenses, Financials, Adaptive Planning, Prism Analytics, or related Workday capabilities.
- Experience working with sensitive enterprise data in a regulated or compliance-focused environment with strong privacy, security, audit, or compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Workday release management, tenant configuration, security, business processes, calculated fields, custom reporting, integration events, and related technical concepts.
