Xero App Advisory Specialist (Independent Contractor)

🚀 Help us build a new advisory division from the ground up.

The Finance Block is a Cape Town-based, IRBA-registered audit and advisory practice serving owner-managed businesses and growing SMEs. We're launching a dedicated Xero App Advisory division; and we're looking for one exceptional contractor to own delivery from day one.

This is not a bookkeeping gig. You'll take engagements from discovery through to implementation, training, and handover; with a genuine path to lead the division as it grows.

What you'll be doing:

✅ Running discovery sessions and producing clear app stack recommendations

✅ Executing Xero migrations; predominantly Sage Pastel conversions — end-to-end

✅ Implementing and configuring the ecosystem: Dext, Syft, Cin7, WorkflowMax, SimplePay, payment gateways

✅ Training client teams and driving real adoption post go-live

✅ Building repeatable implementation playbooks as we scale

You're a great fit if you have:

🔹 Xero Advisor Certification (Migration Certification a strong plus) with 3+ years of hands-on implementation experience

🔹 Proven Sage Pastel–to–Xero conversion experience with SA businesses

🔹 Working knowledge of at least three core ecosystem apps (Dext, Syft, Cin7, WorkflowMax, SimplePay or equivalents)

🔹 Solid SA compliance grounding — VAT201 workflows, SARS eFiling, payroll statutory requirements

🔹 The confidence to run a discovery call, present a recommendation, and train non-financial staff without supervision

🔹 An accounting foundation (bookkeeping to trial balance minimum; SAIPA/SAICA/CIMA an advantage

Bonus points for: Power BI or advanced Syft reporting • Zapier/Make or Xero API exposure • prior experience inside an accounting or audit practice

The engagement:

💼 Independent contractor agreement — project fees or agreed day rate, invoiced monthly

📈 Initial pipeline of 1–2 engagements per month, scaling with demand from our active marketing campaigns

📍 Remote-friendly, with occasional in-person client sessions in the greater Cape Town area

🌱 Ground-floor opportunity: consistent performers will be first in line to lead the division as it grows
