JOB SUMMARY As part of the Rick Hansen Foundation School Program (RHFSP) team, the Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for direct engagement with youth with and without disabilities via the RHFSP Youth Leadership Committee, the RHFSP Difference Maker of the Year Awards, and the global Youth Leadership Network. This position is responsible for the RHFSP Difference Maker of the Year Awards including nominations, delivery of the awards, and recognition of award recipients. In addition, the Youth Engagement Coordinator, RHFSP acts as the point of contact for Youth Leadership Committee members, ensuring mentorship activities include advocacy, networking and skills training, to encourage members to become inclusion and accessibility leaders. The role will help to grow the School Program moving forward via the establishment of a global Youth Leadership Network and expanding the Difference Maker of the Year Award internationally. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reporting to the Manager, RHFSP, the Youth Engagement Coordinator works closely with the RHFSP team, the Marketing Communications team, external and international partners, and youth committee and network members, and award recipients. Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Values We Collaborate Authentically We Engage Respectfully We Keep Our Promises KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Difference Maker of the Year Awards: Responsible for the seamless planning and execution of the RHFSP Difference Maker of the Year Awards from start to post awards; Works closely with the Manager, RHFSP on the nomination process including the equitable review of nominations and works closely with the Marketing and Communications team to promote and encourage nominations; Acts as the main point of contact for the awards including past and present nominators, nominees and recipients; Responds to general inquiries received related to the awards; Works closely with the Manager, RHFSP on the development of a plan to expand the awards in a phased approach globally and leads in the execution, including the development of international partnerships to extend reach; and Responsible for coordinating various project, including monitoring timelines and deliverables and following up with various parties to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. Youth Leadership Committee & Network: Acts as the main point of contact for the RHFSP Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) members; Facilitates the smooth onboa rding and offboarding of Youth Leadership Committee members per their Terms of Reference, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements including completed Vulnerable Sector Checks; Research and coordinates mentorship opportunities for the YLC for building advocacy and networking skills, and selects guest speakers as appropriate for monthly committee meetings; Provides leadership to YLC members, ensuring they set appropriate annual project(s) and successfully complete their project(s); and Contributes to the developme nt of a new global Youth Leadership Network and leads in the execution of those plans, ensuring input from youth audiences. General: Ensures ongoing and accurate program data and reporting is captured in Salesforce; Contributes to annual year-end survey, reports and funder stewardship reports; Prepares Purchase Orders, invoices, Request for Proposals, contracts, Contract Approval Forms, and expense claims, as needed, related to youth engagement activities ; Actively contributes to ongoing team meetings, brainstorms and discussions on program expansion and optimization; Contributes to research and other special projects as required; Maintains and applies current knowledge of relevant standards and practices related to key accountabilities; and Performs other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the position. QUALIFICATIONS An equivalent combination of education, experience and skills/behaviours will be considered. Education: University degree in relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Lived experience with a disability or demonstrated connection to youth‑serving communities may be considered an asset in lieu of formal education. Certification/Designations: None. Experience/Knowledge: Minimum 3 years of related experience in program coordination, youth engagement and facilitation, or equity focused practice; Demonstrated experience supporting youth‑focused programs and/or event planning, outreach initiatives, or relationship management; Demonstrated experience working with youth and effectively engaging youth audiences; Computer skills required include: Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Experience with virtual meeting/webinar technology (i.e., Zoom, MS Teams); Experience using AI-enabled tools responsibly, such as Copilot, preferred; Experience with databases, Salesforce and/or other CRM databases are assets. Knowledge of program management and development of policies and procedures; Non-profit experience is an asset; and Knowledge of accessibility, disability inclusion, and the experiences of people with disabilities is preferred.
