3D Animator

HB Studios is a driving force in the creation of sports video games and the studio behind PGA TOUR 2K Golf – presently working on Console and PC. We have an opportunity for a 3D Animator to join our team of developers, creators, and fans, who are passionate about the art and process involved in video game development. As a 3D Animator, you will work with a team of professionals to build and maintain top quality animation that breathes life into one of the fastest growing sports game series in the industry! Main Duties and Responsibilities Create high-quality animation and collaborate across disciplines to meet project and aesthetic goals set out by production and leads. Build realistic human motion for gameplay and cinematics by editing and layering motion capture data. Animate props using rigging and constraint systems. Hand-key facial rigs and polish facial mocap data. Work within the game engine and pipeline to ensure all completed assets are in a build-ready format. Maintain a high level of quality within design and technical constraints while optimizing for performance. Collaborate with Software Engineers on the implementation, troubleshooting, and debugging of animation systems. Respond to direction with an open mind and an eagerness to refine character animation to ensure the highest quality and best fit for the game. Identify self-directed learning opportunities and provide input to improve animation production methods, tools, and techniques. Build positive working relationships and actively participate in team meetings. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Typically, 2 to 4+ years of industry experience in 3D animation. A solid understanding of human body mechanics and locomotion. Proven technical proficiency with Maya or MotionBuilder. Experience working with motion capture data and modern game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, or proprietary engines). Familiarity with source control software (Perforce or Git). Technical knowledge of rigging and skinning is considered a plus. Location & Relocation This position is based in Nova Scotia. Relocation support may be available for the right candidate.
