Apave America has immediate openings for experienced RT/CR Level II Technicians for full-time call out positions in the Wood River, IL area. Must have a valid State Card and the ability to shoot Digital Profiles and Weld Quality. RSO experience will be considered a strong asset. Relocation assistance provided for qualified candidates. Position Overview: The NDT Level II (Non-Destructive Testing) Technician is a skilled professional who independently performs inspections on materials and components using various NDT methods like Radiography Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Penetrant Testing (PT), to detect flaws or defects while adhering to established standards and procedures, interpreting results, and documenting findings in detailed reports; essentially acting as a quality control inspector with advanced NDT knowledge and certification to work autonomously on complex projects. In this role, the NDT Level II RT/CR Technician must have sufficient technical knowledge and skills to be qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. The RT/CR Level II must be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which qualified and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of trainees and RT Level I personnel. The RT/CR Level II must be able to organize, and report results of NDT tests. Key responsibilities of a Level II NDT Technician: Performing NDT inspections Setting up and calibrating NDT equipment, conducting tests using assigned NDT methods, interpreting test data, and identifying defects according to relevant codes and standards. Technical expertise Understanding the limitations of different NDT techniques, selecting appropriate methods for specific applications, and applying proper testing procedures. Data analysis and reporting Accurately documenting inspection results, including detailed reports with clear descriptions of findings, photographs, and recommendations. Compliance with standards Adhering to industry standards such as ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) guidelines, applicable codes, and client specifications. Quality control Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of NDT inspections by performing quality checks and maintaining proper equipment calibration. Communication and collaboration Interacting with engineers, quality inspectors, and other personnel to discuss inspection requirements, findings, and potential corrective actions. Safety practices Following safety protocols and procedures while working in various environments, including confined spaces or at heights. Requirements for a Level II NDT Technician: ASNT Level II Certification Must hold a valid Level II NDT certification in the specific method(s) they will be using (e.g., RT, UTT/UT, MT, PT) Technical Knowledge Thorough understanding of NDT principles, equipment operation, and applicable codes and standards Practical Experience Prior experience performing NDT inspections in relevant industries Strong Analytical Skills Ability to interpret complex data and make accurate assessments of inspection results Attention to Detail High level of precision and accuracy in performing inspections and documenting findings Work environments where Level II NDT Technicians are employed: Manufacturing facilities Oil and gas industry Aerospace industry Construction industry Power generation plants Pipeline companies Qualifications, Experience and Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent is required Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Current IRRSP Card or State Card required for Radiographers SNT Level II certification in RT required for Radiographers Computed Radiography (CR) experience is required SNT certifications in MT/PT/UTT/PMI considered an asset Must provide proof of classroom training hours in RT/CR Must have 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training Must be capable of following verbal and written instructions Capable of training assistant radiographers Current SPRAT and/or IRATA Rope Access certification will be considered an asset Valid Driver’s License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required Pre-employment background checks will be required Work Conditions: Field duties require indoor/outdoor work in diverse industrial environments with varying weather conditions Interaction with a wide range of stakeholders Working in a plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels May be required to work from various levels of heights and/or in close, confined spaces for long periods of time Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection (PPE) Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to lift, move and carry objects weighing 75 lbs. repeatedly Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb Must be able to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in various environments including from heights and confined spaces Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to investigate Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform routine in-field or office job duties Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform in-field or office job duties Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively Exhibits sensible and responsible behavior Benefits: Dental Insurance.
