A well-established academic healthcare organization is seeking a fellowship-trained, Board-Eligible/Board-Certified Geriatric Psychiatrist to join a growing psychiatry and behavioral health division. This position offers a balanced mix of clinical care, teaching, and academic involvement within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Position Highlights Academic practice setting with opportunities for teaching and scholarly activity Combination of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities Work with geriatric patients in both clinic and hospital settings Opportunity to participate in or lead development of a geriatric psychiatry fellowship program Potential to develop and expand consultation services for nursing facilities Collaborative environment with neuropsychology and multidisciplinary support teams Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours with shared call responsibilities Strong support structure including resident coverage About the Community This opportunity is located in a mid-sized, university-centered city in eastern North Carolina , offering: Affordable cost of living and diverse housing options Access to outdoor recreation including waterways, trails, and coastal areas A growing arts, dining, and cultural scene Proximity to larger metro areas and coastal destinations General Job Requirements Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for geriatric patients Manage care across inpatient, outpatient, and consultative settings Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and social workers Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and/or fellows Engage in program development, quality improvement, and/or research activities Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Adhere to all regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school Completion of psychiatry residency Completion of fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry (preferred or required depending on role) Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry Eligible for or able to obtain state medical licensure Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills Interest in academic medicine, teaching, or program development (preferred) Ability to work effectively in a team-based, multidisciplinary environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and academic background Comprehensive benefits package including: Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan Paid time off (vacation, sick leave, CME) Malpractice coverage (including tail) Relocation assistance Disability and life insurance Eligibility for student loan repayment programs (where applicable)
