Position Summary Reporting to the Director for the Institute of Fine Arts (IFA) and working closely with IFA administrative and academic leadership, manage all aspects of the Institute’s faculty/academic affairs activities, including activities related to the adjunct and graduate/undergraduate student employee populations. Interpret University policy and procedures to ensure the Institute follows University and IFA academic and student appointment/hiring protocols, including protocols related to faculty/researcher/student scholar searches, appointment letters, hiring commitments, visas/sponsorships, and Institute recordkeeping. Develop and implement internal protocols and serve as the Director’s designee to represent the Institute’s needs with University stakeholders. Serve as the Institute’s primary HR contact for matters related to its faculty, researcher, and student employee populations, including managing related transactions and HR business processes, employee relations, and related matters governed by collective bargaining agreements. Collaborate with University offices to further the work of the Institute and its workforce, including developing, implementing, and interpreting academic-or student-related HR policies and procedures as appropriate. Contribute to positive working and community relations with the IFA’s administrator and clerical populations, including partnering with IFA’s counterpart HR Business Partner for these same populations to ensure seamless and integrated HR support managed by that individual. Advise the Director on personnel and academic matters. Liaise with University offices on work related to space management and Institute safety. Represent the Institute on select University, faculty, and administrative committees. Research and provide relevant background information on a variety of Institute matters (e.g., grievances, tenure and promotion decisions). Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred Education: Master's Degree in a relevant field Required Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience managing academic HR matters, employee relations, or academic administration at a university or comparable institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience managing staff, interpreting and applying employment policy, managing confidential personnel matters, and administering academic or student appointment processes. Preferred Experience: 5+ years demonstrated experience supporting faculty search and hiring processes at a major research university, including familiarity with academic appointment letters, visa sponsorship for international scholars, and search committee administration. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding organizational skills, including the demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities. Ability to interpret policies and procedures and communicate sensitive information to a diverse population. Demonstrated analytical, planning, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of employment law and HR concepts. Proficiency in standard office software. Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $115,000.00 to USD $135,000.00. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
