The Applied Research in Gore’s Performance Solutions Division (GPS) is responsible for shaping and delivering our future technology platforms for GPS. Within GPS Electronics Products we provide protection from moisture, dust, and extreme temperatures to ensure longevity and reliability while maintaining peak acoustic performance for consumer electronics. Through modeling and experiments, this role is expected to support internal material and product development and external customers’ applications. This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland , with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement. Relocation assistance is available for this position. Pay and Benefits: $130,000 - $160,000 per year Roles above $150k are eligible for the variable pay program each fiscal year, based on defined business performance metrics. More details are available at www.gore.com/careers/benefits Responsibilities Acoustic Simulation and Consulting Interact with customers’ acoustic engineers to understand the acoustic need. Develop part-level and system-level models and use simulations to identify membrane candidates and optimize acoustic performance. Provide acoustic recommendations to material development team. Review and evaluate acoustic data for key global electronics customer programs. Test Method & System Development & Validation Develop test methods using SoundCheck software, including MEMS mic fixture and other dynamic tests (laser-based vibration test, modal test using shaker). Support equipment setup and maintenance (troubleshooting and continuous improvement) and validation for global system deployments. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or an equivalent field. Proficiency in acoustic test software and finite element simulation software. Experience with MATLAB or similar programming language. Experience with impedance tube measurement. Strong theoretical background and experimental experience in acoustics and vibration. Strong communication skills for cross-functional and external collaboration. Ability to travel up to 10%. Desired Qualifications PhD degree in Acoustics or 2+ years of acoustics related work in industry. Experience in the consumer electronics industry and MEMS devices. Proficiency in SoundCheck, COMSOL and MATLAB. Experience in IP filing. Experience developing acoustic measurement or vibration equipment. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement in the country from which the Associate is employed.
