Job Title: AMI Montessori Guide & Assistant

Company: Lions Gate Montessori

Location: Downtown Vancouver, BC (Yaletown)

Job Type: Full-time

Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year

About Lions Gate Montessori

Established in 1998, Lions Gate Montessori is a long-standing Montessori community belonging to The Nebulae Group of Montessori Schools, with three campuses in downtown Vancouver and South Surrey—including our location honored as a 2026 Consumer Choice Award winner. We serve generations of families from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, including international and consular communities, and are proud to welcome AMI Montessori trainees as a trusted practicum host site.

As one of only seven AMI Montessori Quality Assurance (MQA) member schools in British Columbia, we are committed to preserving the integrity and authenticity of the Montessori approach. Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, our environments will also be renewed with new Nienhuis Montessori materials and furniture.

We are seeking educators who understand that Montessori is not simply a method of teaching, but a way of preparing an environment in which children can develop through purposeful activity, independence, concentration, and meaningful relationships.

The successful candidate will bring a genuine respect for the child, a willingness to observe before intervening, and a commitment to continual professional growth. We value educators who contribute thoughtfully to a collaborative community and who see themselves as part of the preparation and stewardship of the Montessori environment.

The Role

The Montessori Guide & Assistant works collaboratively to prepare and sustain an environment that responds to the developmental needs of the children and reflects the principles of AMI Montessori practice.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, maintaining, and continually refining a beautiful, orderly, purposeful, and authentic Montessori environment.
  • Observing children carefully and using those observations to inform presentations, guidance, and preparation of the environment.
  • Supporting children in developing independence, concentration, coordination, confidence, and respect for self and others.
  • Offering lessons and guidance in accordance with the Montessori approach and the developmental needs of the individual child.
  • Protecting the child's opportunity for uninterrupted work and purposeful activity.
  • Supporting a peaceful and respectful classroom community through consistent, thoughtful guidance.
  • Working collaboratively with the Montessori Guide, colleagues, practicum trainees, and school leadership.
  • Building respectful and professional relationships with children and families.
  • Contributing to an inclusive community that recognises and values cultural, linguistic, and individual diversity.
  • Participating in ongoing reflection, professional development, and the continual improvement of the Montessori environment.

What We Are Looking For:

Essential:

  • AMI Primary Diploma/Certification.
  • Current BC ECE or ECE Assistant Licence.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to authentic Montessori pedagogy.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to observe, reflect, and respond thoughtfully to children's developmental needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a professional Montessori community.
  • Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.

Preferred:

  • Two or more years of Montessori or early childhood education experience.
  • Experience working within an AMI Montessori environment.
  • French language proficiency.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring Montessori practicum trainees.

What We Offer:

We believe that a strong Montessori environment depends upon the professional development and wellbeing of the adults who prepare and sustain it.

  • Paid Time Off: Winter and Spring breaks, statutory holidays, and applicable paid leaves.
  • Health & Wellness: Up to 80% employer-funded group health benefits.
  • Financial Security: Group RRSP programme.
  • Professional Growth: Dedicated professional development allowance and opportunities for continued Montessori learning.
  • Family Support: Childcare fee discounts.
  • International Candidates: Immigration sponsorship may be available for qualified international candidates.

How to Apply

If you are an AMI-trained educator who is committed to authentic Montessori practice and would like to contribute to a thoughtful, collaborative Montessori community, we invite you to apply.

Please submit your CV and cover letter outlining your Montessori experience, qualifications, and approach to working with children to: [email protected]
