Are you looking to take the next step in your veterinary career, with a role that combines stability, flexibility and variety? This Area Vet role covers eight clinics within an approximately 25-mile radius across Basingstoke, Bisley, Bracknell, Crowthorne, Frimley Green, Guildford, Lower Earley, and Yateley . At these clinics you would be supporting the teams in covering vet holiday, regular days off or vacancies, for example. It’s expected that much of the work is sole charge, so we are looking for someone with 4 – 5 years UK experience and confidence in consults and performing routine surgery independently. The ideal candidate will be adaptable in different practice environments, and passionate about delivering high standards of small animal care. A positive outlook and the ability to work both as part of a team and in sole charge will be key to your success. As a Area Vet in our team, you will take clinical ownership of patient care within the practice, ensuring every pet receives exceptional treatment and every client feels supported. You’ll play a key role in delivering our “always there” promise — being a trusted presence for clients, patients, and colleagues alike. Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you’ll uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance, clinical governance, and operational excellence, helping to maintain a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for all. It’s a four-day week with every sixth weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at the Wokingham 24Hr Hospital. All shifts are 9am to 7pm. As the work involves covering vets who are on holiday, your day off each week is changeable and may vary from week to week. Additionally, our vets participate in the bank holiday and on-call rotas (expect on average three bank holiday shifts and three weeks of on-call a year). With access to Medivet’s hub-and-spoke model, complex cases can be referred to our nearby 24‑hour hospital in Wokingham giving you access to advanced diagnostics, specialist teams, and a wider clinical network, modern equipment and clear development pathways. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical skills and make a meaningful impact. This unique position gives you the chance to experience the best of both worlds: the security of permanent employment, with the variety that comes from working across multiple practices. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of talented teams, manage a diverse portfolio of cases and contribute to the exceptional standards of care that Medivet is known for. It is a role that allows you to influence and inspire others while developing your own skills and clinical experience. This is a rare opportunity to fast-track your career, broaden your experience and enjoy the support of an outstanding team behind you. If you are seeking a role that offers variety, progression and the chance to make a real impact, we would love to hear from you. Your career means more than a rota and a job title, that’s why we offer: Health and wellbeing Private Medical Insurance and Health Cash Plan from day one 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support Life Assurance 3 x salary Annual leave 5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising with length of service Extra ‘Day for You’, a paid day off just for you Learning and development £1,500 CPD allowance plus 3 days’ paid leave per year Access to Clinical Communities, internal CPD and our 24-hour hospitals Funded certificates and internal career pathways Additional support RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid Relocation support and Visa sponsorship available Sabbatical options based on length of service Lifestyle Cycle to Work Season Ticket loans Discounts on Medivet products and services About you You’re a qualified MRCVS with a passion for clinical excellence and client care. You’re a team player who wants to make a real difference in a practice that values and supports you. What you’ll be doing Typically, in this role, you’ll: Deliver exceptional clinical care to patients in consults and surgery to the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance Develop tailored treatment plans with clients Work collaboratively within a supportive team Share your skills and support our Medivet communities’ development
