Is this job info correct?

ABOUT THE ROLE Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you will be responsible for contributing to an exceptional student experience through the delivery of teaching, practice, knowledge exchange, scholarship and business and enterprise engagement activity. We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Professor (Practice) and are particularly interested in applications from barristers who are, and intend to remain, in private practice and/or continue as fee-paid judges. The roles are available on contracts of up to 0.8 FTE (29.6 hours per week), enabling successful candidates either to work for us for up to four days per week or for an agreed number of weeks per year, while continuing their professional practice during the remainder of their time. The intention is to recruit staff whose professional practice activity will remain current and inform our practice related teaching, particularly for our Bar students. Further information is available in the job description . ABOUT THE TEAM Northumbria Law School is one of the largest law schools in the UK. It ranked fifth for staff returned to REF2021 and 7th when measured by research power. Its wide-ranging research interests are focussed around three research groupings: Northumbria Centre for Evidence and Criminal Justice Studies; Law in Emerging Contexts: Space, Global Sustainable Futures; and Technology and Law and Society. It delivers a wide range of academic and professional UG and PGT programmes, including several bar course routes, and has a vibrant PGR community. Its long-term record for innovation and excellence in legal education is exemplified by its multi award winning Student Law office. ABOUT YOU Applicants must be members of the English and Welsh Bar with a current practising certificate. They must be able to demonstrate contemporary expert specialist knowledge and subject expertise within the relevant discipline/practice areas ensuring that the curriculum reflects the latest developments within practice. Experience of designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high quality teaching and learning practice (not necessarily in a University setting but otherwise demonstrating ability to manage learning environments in other contexts) as well as evidence of your contributions to the development of contemporary practice are essential. We recognise that candidates may have gained relevant teaching, training and assessment experience through a range of professional settings. Experience might include, for example, training pupils or junior tenants in advocacy or case preparation, delivering CPD or qualifying sessions for your Inn or Circuit, acting as an assessor or supervisor on a Bar Course or pupillage scheme, or developing innovative approaches to skills training that have subsequently been adopted more widely within chambers or your Inn. If you do not currently hold a teaching qualification, such as HEA Fellowship, you will have the opportunity to work towards this during your probationary period. Further information is available in the person specification . If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Adam Jackson (Head of Northumbria Law School) at [email protected]. We welcome applications from the UK and across the world.
