Associate Director, Beckwith Residential Support Services (BRSS) Disability Resources and Educational Services University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign The Associate Director of Beckwith Residential Support Services (BRSS) oversees the operations of BRSS and serves as the onsite supervisor to the BRSS personnel. The position reports to the Director of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES). The role has oversight of the BRSS budget and advises AHS Advancement about resource needs and program opportunities. The Associate Director oversees BRSS policies and procedures. The position contributes to the shared responsibility for covering administrator on duty time, along with the BRSS professional staff and graduate assistants, ensuring 24/7 service coverage of the BRSS program during the academic year. The Associate Director must complete the BRSS PA Training, which will equip them to support the personal assistant (PA) staff and serve as back-up support to PAs, along with other BRSS staff. Serves on the DRES Administrative Council, to advise DRES about resource needs and discuss future planning for the DRES organization, including BRSS. The Associate Director engages in collaboration and partnerships across the University campus and region, may represent DRES on campus committees, and maintains strong working relationships with stakeholder agencies. Duties & Responsibilities • Assumes direct supervisory responsibilities for BRSS administrative staff, pre-professional graduate assistants, and conducts annual reviews. • Manages the day-to-day administrative operations of the BRSS and manages the BRSS budget and strategic goals. Will involve the BRSS administrative staff as needed to carry out specific responsibilities. • Communicates regularly with McKinley Health Services, the Counseling Center, Dean of Students, University Housing, and other University units as to the needs of BRSS residents, and how they might be best supported. • Oversees BRSS marketing and recruitment planning, in partnership with University Housing, to enhance awareness of BRSS programs and services to disabled prospective students and their families, vocational rehabilitation, and other stakeholders. • Works in the ongoing refinement of internal service policies, procedures, and practices. • Supports BRSS personnel in the determination of resident health and safety needs. • Manages BRSS data and research plans and assumes primary responsibility for managing data collection needs, in partnership with AHS data analyst. • Serves as professional staff on-call outside of business hours during overnight and weekends. This is a rotating responsibility shared among the BRSS administrative team. • Assists in maintaining BRSS website content and social media. Will serve as the BRSS contact for the DRES website designer. • Oversees the development and enforcement of “Letter of Expectation” for residents in violation of BRSS community regulations and procedures. • Serves as BRSS liaison to other campus departments/units as needed. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in public health, higher education administration, special education, occupational therapy, social work, or closely related field. • A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in residential programming experience. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.) • Demonstrated experience delivering residential and/or independent living services. • Demonstrated experience in disability support service Preferred Qualifications: • Graduate degree in public health, higher education administration, rehabilitation counseling, special education, occupational therapy, social work, or closely related field. • Experience working in a residential or independent living environment. • Experience determining service plans for disabled individuals. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Ability to be a productive team player, prioritize effectively, and proactively solve problems. • Ability to work well under pressure, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy. • Strong communication and organizational skills. • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and University partners at all levels within a collaborative University environment that values all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The salary range for this position is $70,000- $85,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. This position is eligible for sponsorship for work authorization, except for sponsorship of a new H1B petition that would incur the $100,000 fee This is a fully in-person position.
