Is this job info correct?
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join NHS Highland in a senior professional leadership role at the heart of Women’s Services across North Highland. Working as a core member of the Acute Services senior leadership team, you will provide visible, credible and compassionate midwifery and nursing leadership across maternity, neonates and gynaecology services, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care across a complex remote and rural health system.

Working closely with the Director of Midwifery, Head of Operations, Associate Director of Nursing (Acute), General Manager, Clinical Directors and wider multidisciplinary and corporate teams, you will help shape and deliver the strategic direction for Midwifery together with the wider Women’s Services agenda. You will lead service redesign and improvement, and ensure robust systems of professional governance, quality assurance and workforce oversight are in place across community and acute settings.

NHS Highland offers the chance to make a significant impact across a diverse and rewarding service, leading experienced teams across community, midwifery-led and acute environments in one of Scotland’s most distinctive health systems. North Highland maternity services operate across community teams, three community midwifery units and the District General Hospital, making this a uniquely varied and high-profile leadership opportunity.

The successful candidate will provide direct professional and line management leadership to senior midwifery and nursing staff, set and champion high standards of care and professionalism, and foster a culture of excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement. You will work across organisational boundaries to support integrated models of care, respond to local and national priorities, and ensure services are aligned to quality standards, safe staffing requirements and national improvement programmes.

This role requires an experienced and influential senior leader with strong strategic, professional, clinical and operational credibility. You will bring extensive senior midwifery experience, advanced leadership and change management skills, and the ability to lead improvement in complex environments while supporting and developing others. The postholder must be an NMC registrant, educated to Master’s level or able to demonstrate equivalent experiential learning, and able to build strong relationships across multi-agency and multidisciplinary systems.
