Job Summary

We are seeking to employ a highly motivated Band 5 Dietitian to join our team of over 65 dietitians at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This is a permanent full time position and applicants should be qualified dietitians that have HCPC registration or have applied for and are awaiting HCPC registration.

The successful candidate will complete 6 monthly rotations covering a range of specialties including general medicine, trauma, gastroenterology, renal, hepatology and diabetes. As this is a busy and varied caseload, we are looking for a confident dietitian who is organised, self-motivated and ready to take on any challenge with the support of the team. There will be opportunities to develop your practice by shadowing specialities within your rotation, clinical supervision and a preceptorship.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is a tertiary centre and is one of the largest single-site hospitals in the UK and is part of one of the largest trusts in England. Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

The successful candidate will be part of the larger dietetic team at the QE Hospital of over 65 dietitians covering various specialities. They will provide a professional nutrition and dietetic service to specified wards and clinics within the Trust by assessing, treating and managing their own clinical case load, maintaining associated patient records and contributing to the training of student dietitians on clinical placements

The post is permanent and full time (37.5 hours) although applications are welcomed for any part time or job share opportunities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of relevant GCSE, NVQ,GNVQ, AS and A levels
  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • Registration with HCPC

Experience

Essential

  • Will have had relevant clinical experience as part of undergraduate training
  • Sound knowledge of Clinical Dietetics
  • Knowledge of different types of nutritional support
  • Demonstrates interest/enthusiasm in relevant clinical areas
  • Demonstrates an understanding of audit, clinical effectiveness and its importance in the provision of a quality service
  • Demonstrates an awareness of local needs e.g. ethnic minority and low income groups

Desirable

  • May have worked for another trust with a broad range of general experience
  • Post-graduate experience relevant to post
  • Evidence of relevant continued professional development
