As a Business Analyst Principal, you’ll do more than gather requirements—you’ll influence strategy, lead complex enterprise technology initiatives, coach fellow Business Analysts, and champion modern Business Analysis practices. Salary: $90,000- $100,000 per year; DOE Essential Duties: Lead complex enterprise technology initiatives as the Senior Business Analyst, providing strategic analysis, guidance, and Business Analysis leadership across cross-functional projects. Partner with university stakeholders to understand business objectives, analyze current-state capabilities and processes, and identify opportunities for technology, automation, AI, and improved customer experience. Lead discovery and requirements activities , including stakeholder interviews, workshops, process mapping, requirements elicitation, and analysis of business, functional, technical, data, and AI-related requirements. Develop and manage high-quality Business Analysis deliverables , including process maps, workflows, user stories, use cases, business rules, decision logs, requirements, and other artifacts that support solution design, implementation, and operational readiness. Evaluate and incorporate AI into solutions , identifying opportunities to leverage AI to improve business processes and technology solutions while considering governance, security, privacy, accessibility, risk, and responsible AI practices. Collaborate across business and technology teams , including project and product managers, architects, developers, data, cybersecurity, and quality assurance teams, to ensure solutions align with business objectives and enterprise standards. Drive solution implementation and adoption , supporting limited testing and UAT, issue resolution, change readiness, production deployment, and successful transition to operations. Facilitate communication, decision-making, and consensus among diverse stakeholders by translating complex business and technical concepts into clear, actionable information and developing recommendations informed by data, institutional priorities, and business needs. Mentor Business Analysts and advance the BA practice by coaching team members, reviewing work products, sharing knowledge, promoting modern Business Analysis techniques and AI-enabled practices, and finally establishing enforcing standards and best practices. Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and organizational engagement by identifying opportunities to improve Business Analysis and delivery processes, services, governance, efficiency, and customer experience; staying current on emerging technologies and AI; fostering a positive culture; and actively participating in ET/ASU events and programs. Desired Qualifications: Senior-level Business Analysis experience supporting multiple complex enterprise technology initiatives simultaneously, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes. Strong Business Analysis expertise , including requirements elicitation and validation, process and capability analysis, workflows, user stories, use cases, decision documentation, and solution design. Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills , with experience coaching and developing Business Analysts, promoting best practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Business Analysis practice. Exceptional communication and facilitation skills , with the ability to lead complex stakeholder interviews and workshops, build consensus, influence decisions, and communicate effectively with executives, business leaders, and technical teams. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills , with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, understand enterprise interdependencies, and recommend practical, scalable solutions aligned with business and institutional priorities. Experience leveraging AI and emerging technologies , including using AI tools to enhance Business Analysis activities and identifying opportunities to incorporate AI into business processes, products, and technology solutions. Understanding of responsible AI and enterprise technology considerations , including the ability to translate AI opportunities into business and technical requirements while considering governance, security, privacy, accessibility, risk, and ethical considerations. Enterprise technology and delivery experience , including experience with enterprise applications such as ERP, HR, Finance, Student Information Systems, CRM, or Service Management platforms and methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Lean, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery. Cross-functional collaboration and process improvement experience , including partnering with architects, developers, product and project managers, data and cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to improve processes, customer experience, and organizational outcomes. Experience in complex organizational environments , preferably higher education, with proficiency in Business Analysis and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Workday, Visio, Lucidchart, Microsoft 365, or similar platforms, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
