The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join the Out of Hours Clinical Nurse Coordinator Team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

This role is ideal for an experienced Registered Nursing Practitioner looking to broaden their scope of practice across a whole hospital setting.

Working as part of a senior nursing team, you will provide professional leadership and coordinate site, bed, patient flow and resource management during the out of hours period.

You will play a key role in supporting the Hospital at Night service, responding to clinical alerts across the hospital and ensuring safe, effective patient care. This is a demanding role requiring excellent clinical judgement, strong decision-making skills, flexibility and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post working part time hours (25.3)
  • This post is based within the North Sector at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, although you may be required to work across all acute adult inpatient hospital sites within Glasgow.
  • The shift pattern consists of 12-hour night shifts and weekend day shifts, working 3–4 shifts per week.
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide senior nursing leadership during the out of hours period, coordinating site operations, bed management, patient flow and the effective use of hospital resources to support safe and efficient care delivery.

You will lead and support the Hospital at Night service, respond to clinical alerts across the hospital site and make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical leadership, ensure effective communication across services and maintain high standards of patient care while supporting the operational management of the hospital during out of hours.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • First level Registered Nurse with current professional registration.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Significant clinical nursing experience, including relevant management experience.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant clinical policies and procedures.
  • Strong decision-making, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team working skills.
  • IT literate.
  • Up to date with all Corporate Nurse Training requirements.
  • Competent in the administration of intravenous
