Is this job info correct?
Fixed term/Secondment opportunity for 12 months to improve service delivery.

  • Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager and complete the secondment request form prior to interview. The secondment request form and the associated secondment policy can be found on the HR/Recruitment intranet pages and must be completed and signed by the substantive line manager. The Candidate should then take it with them to interview as confirmation that an agreement has been granted.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Intensive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (ICAMHS) within NHS Forth Valley to support the continued development and expansion of the service remit in response to service demand and patient need. A team driven by NHS Forth Valley’s Values, we are seeking to recruit three Clinical Nurse Specialists (Band 6) on a fixed term basis. Those seeking secondment opportunities should speak to their current line manager before applying.

These posts are a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and specialist CAMHS crisis service and help to make a meaningful impact on outcomes for children and young people in crisis. The post holders will work within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team and have access to training, supervision, and ongoing professional development.

The team provides urgent, crisis, and intensive mental health support to children and young people (aged 0–18) presenting with acute mental health difficulties. This includes same-day emergency assessments, urgent follow-up appointments, and intensive community-based interventions as an alternative to hospital admission. The team also offer a range of highly specialist interventions, which often includes multi-agency work with our partners.

The post-holders will help to deliver responsive, high-quality care across a range of settings including clinics, family homes, schools, and inpatient environments. They will also work within established clinical governance frameworks and adhere to professional standards set by regulatory bodies and NHS guidelines.

While post-holders will initially be based within ICAMHS, there may be scope to support the core (Tier 3) CAMHS service who support those aged 0-18 presenting with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and possible co-morbid neurodevelopmental presentations. Similarly to iCAMHS, this service provides assessment and various evidence-based interventions within the multi-disciplinary team. The two services are closely linked with regular, established joint working. The core CAMHS service have implemented the Choice & Partnership (CAPA) approach which is a widely used clinical framework in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

Our nurses receive regular clinical supervision and robust and supportive line management and job planning. As part of job planning, all staff are supported to identify an area of specialist clinical interest or expertise and members of the team undertake specific induction upon appointment. We also have a varied in-house programme of clinical CPD and we have very good links with national bodies and close links with training courses.

Candidates must have a nursing degree and have substantial experience of working with children and young people or related specialist health services.

ICAMHS operates Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. While successful candidates will be expected to work within these core hours initially, continued expansion of ICAMHS provision may require postholders to work out-with these hours.

For Informal Enquiries Please Contact

  • Emma McEwen, Team Leader for CAMHS: [email protected] or 01324 610846

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
