Job Description: Sandstone Recovery Centre is a community-based inpatient recovery centre providing specialized treatment for eating disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns to adolescents and young adults ages 12–24. The Clinical Team Lead provides day-to-day clinical leadership, coordination, mentorship, and support to the clinical team while maintaining a clinical caseload. Working closely with the Executive Director and multidisciplinary treatment team, the Clinical Team Lead supports safe, consistent, patient-centered, and evidence-informed care. This role serves as a key clinical resource for Counsellors and Registered Dietitians, providing consultation and guidance with complex clinical situations, supporting treatment planning and continuity of care, and contributing to staff development, quality improvement, measurement-based care, and program development. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Provide day-to-day clinical leadership, consultation, and support to Counsellors and other designated clinical team members. Maintain a clinical caseload and provide individual counselling, family support, and group therapy as required. Participate in assessment, treatment planning, case reviews, family meetings, discharge planning, and continuity-of-care activities. Support clinicians in managing complex patient presentations, treatment-interfering behaviors, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal concerns, and other clinical challenges. Promote consistent, evidence-informed clinical practice and patient-centered care. Identify and appropriately escalate significant patient safety, clinical, staffing, or operational concerns to the Executive Director and/or appropriate members of the treatment team. Team Leadership & Coordination Coordinate daily clinical priorities, assignments, coverage, and patient-care needs in collaboration with the Executive Director and clinical team. Facilitate or participate in clinical team meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Provide mentorship, coaching, consultation, and support to clinical staff. Promote a respectful, collaborative, accountable, and psychologically safe team environment. Support the orientation, onboarding, and integration of new clinical staff. Participate in the recruitment and selection of clinical staff, including candidate review and interviews, in collaboration with the Executive Director and Human Resources. Patient & Family Support Support clinicians in developing and maintaining effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Participate in family communication and collaboration with external service providers as required. Support patient and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up and escalation. Promote care that recognizes the developmental, psychological, social, and family needs of adolescents and young adults. Education & Professional Development Serve as a clinical resource for practicum students and other learners as assigned. Support the development of clinical knowledge and skills through mentorship, consultation, education, and in-service training. Contribute to education related to eating disorders, co-occurring mental health concerns, therapeutic approaches, and relevant clinical topics. Quality Improvement & Program Development Participate in quality improvement, risk management, and program development initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve patient experience, clinical communication, team functioning, continuity of care, and clinical outcomes. Contribute to the development, review, revision, and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Support consistent implementation of evidence-informed clinical practices and organizational standards. Documentation & Measurement-Based Care Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, patient records, and discharge summaries. Support quality assurance related to clinical documentation and patient records. Ensure completion and monitoring of measurement-based care requirements and support the clinical team in using outcome data to inform treatment planning, clinical decision-making, and quality improvement. Complete or support required clinical, program, quality, and organizational reporting. Professional Responsibilities Maintain current knowledge and professional competence in eating disorders, adolescent and young adult mental health, and evidence-informed treatment approaches. Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable legislation, professional standards, privacy requirements, and organizational policies and procedures. Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, professionalism, initiative, accountability, and effective communication. Consult with clinical content experts and other professionals when required. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate must have: A Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology . Current registration in good standing with the applicable professional regulatory body, including the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) for Psychologists or the applicable Alberta regulatory body for Social Workers. 2+ years of experience in a clinical leadership, supervisory, or team lead role , with demonstrated knowledge of effective people-management and leadership practices. 2+ years of clinical experience in eating disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns, including experience supporting adolescents and young adults. Experience providing individual and group counselling in a community, inpatient, or other structured mental health treatment environment. Strong knowledge and practical application of evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, including CBT and DBT . Demonstrated critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, problem-solving, and ability to respond effectively to complex or changing clinical situations. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical guidance, consultation, mentorship, and support to a multidisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and remain calm and clinically focused in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively and independently with a high degree of professionalism and accountability.
