About the Role The Kainga Tiaki Centre is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in adult mental health to join our multidisciplinary community team. The primary purpose of this role is to provide high-quality, person-centred mental health care that meets the needs of tangata whai i te ora (service users) and their whānau. You will deliver contemporary, safe, culturally responsive and evidence-based care, underpinned by comprehensive assessment, continuity of care and a strong recovery-focused approach. Working collaboratively with tangata whai i te ora, their whānau, carers and the multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment to support recovery and improve health outcomes. About the Team/Service/ Location Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora – Te Toka Tumai Auckland provides adult community mental health services across four Community Mental Health Centres (CMHCs): Manaaki House (Panmure), Cornwall House (Greenlane), Taylor Centre (Ponsonby) and Kainga Tiaki Centre (Mt Eden). Our community mental health teams deliver a comprehensive range of high-quality, multidisciplinary services in partnership with tangata whai i te ora, their whānau and local communities. We provide holistic assessment, treatment and ongoing management for people with complex mental health needs through well-coordinated, recovery-focused care, including home-based treatment where appropriate. Located close to the University of Auckland Medical School, our service offers opportunities to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching by supervising medical students and psychiatric registrars through the Auckland Registrar Training Scheme. There are also opportunities to participate in research and collaborate with academic colleagues at the University of Auckland. We are committed to supporting the professional growth of our Consultant Psychiatrists and encourage the development of leadership capability.
