Job Type: Full-Time l Location: Childress, TX l Department: Construction l Reporting to: Associate Director, Construction | Work Location: #onsite IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. Help build the fiber and communications backbone that enables high-performance computing at scale. As the Construction Manager - Telecommunication , you will lead the field delivery of telecommunications infrastructure and communication equipment across advanced data center campuses, including outside-plant and inside-plant fiber, structured cabling, pathways, telecom rooms, racks, cabinets, optical distribution equipment, and carrier interconnections. You will manage specialty contractors from preconstruction through testing and turnover, coordinating with design, network, compute, commissioning, and operations teams to deliver safe, high-quality installations with the capacity, diversity, and reliability required for HPC. Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent field experience will be considered. Minimum of 7 years of telecommunications or low-voltage construction management experience, preferably in mission-critical environments such as hyperscale or HPC data centers. Proven ability to lead large, multi-building telecommunications scopes from design development and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover. Strong working knowledge of outside-plant and inside-plant fiber-optic systems, structured cabling, fiber distribution, splicing, termination, patching, labelling, and cable-management practices. Experience delivering telecom rooms, meet-me rooms, entrance facilities, carrier demarcations, underground duct banks, handholes, pathways, cable tray, ladder rack, racks, cabinets, and associated grounding and bonding. Ability to review telecommunications drawings, riser diagrams, specifications, BIM coordination models, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, method statements, and test plans. Knowledge of applicable TIA, BICSI, NEC/NFPA, OSHA, firestopping, grounding and bonding, and local code requirements, along with fiber inspection, optical loss, OTDR, polarity, and link-certification practices. Demonstrated ability to lead multiple contractors and manage manpower, schedules, budgets, change orders, material deliveries, quality, and coordination across construction, engineering, network, compute, and operations teams. Preferred Experience: Prior experience delivering telecommunications infrastructure for hyperscale, AI, or HPC data centers, including work adjacent to live mission-critical systems. BICSI RCDD, DCDC, RTPM, PMP, OSHA 30, or comparable industry certification. Experience with high-density fiber architectures, MPO/MTP and LC connectivity, optical distribution frames, overhead fiber raceway, diverse campus backbone routes, and carrier interconnections. Familiarity with network equipment installation, integrated systems testing, cable and port records, digital turnover platforms, and data center commissioning. Certifications such as BICSI, RCDD, or OSHA 30 are a plus. Other important requirements : Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies. Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied. Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work. Must be comfortable working a rotational schedule, which includes day and night shifts as well as weekend work, based on project needs. Employees working night shifts will receive a 15% premium added to their hourly rate only for hours worked during night shifts. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of all telecommunications construction activities for HPC data center projects, from preconstruction through commissioning and final turnover. Direct telecommunications contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; establish daily priorities and hold teams accountable for safety, manpower, productivity, schedule, workmanship, and closeout commitments. Review design documents, riser diagrams, specifications, scopes of work, BIM models, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, installation methods, and test plans to confirm constructability and compliance with project requirements. Manage construction of underground and aboveground pathways, campus fiber routes, building entrances, meet-me rooms, telecom rooms, cable tray, ladder rack, fiber raceway, sleeves, penetrations, racks, cabinets, and grounding and bonding systems. Oversee installation, splicing, termination, patching, labelling, and protection of fiber-optic and structured cabling, along with racks, cabinets, optical distribution equipment, network devices, and related communication equipment. Coordinate procurement and delivery of long-lead telecommunications materials and align installation interfaces with IT/network, compute, design, civil, electrical, mechanical, controls, security, commissioning, and operations teams. Enforce a telecommunications quality-control program covering pathway readiness, cable separation and pulling, bend radius, cleanliness, end-face inspection, labeling, slack management, firestopping, grounding, and workmanship. Plan, witness, and validate fiber and copper testing, including optical loss, OTDR, polarity, continuity, link certification, and punch-list resolution; ensure failed results are investigated and corrected before acceptance. Develop and maintain contractor look-ahead schedules, manpower forecasts, progress quantities, cost forecasts, change logs, risk registers, and recovery plans; validate reported progress and payment applications. Protect route diversity, capacity, resiliency, and maintainability requirements, and manage work near live systems through approved methods of procedure, change controls, outage windows, access controls, and notifications. Ensure contractors comply with site safety plans, OSHA requirements, applicable codes and standards, approved drawings, environmental requirements, and company quality expectations. Drive complete turnover documentation, including redlines, as-builts, cable and splice records, port maps, test reports, asset data, warranties, O&M information, training, and spares; report status, risks, decisions, and corrective actions to project leadership. Support commissioning and testing activities prior to handover. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications.
