IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. We are seeking a Construction Supervisor – Insulation to lead the installation of insulation across advanced mechanical systems, including liquid-cooling infrastructure, piping, pumps, and HVAC equipment, within high-performance data center environments. This role requires hands-on supervision, cross-trade coordination, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial or industrial mechanical insulation, including at least 3 years in a foreman, lead, or supervisory role. Demonstrated experience supervising insulation work on chilled-water piping, process piping, HVAC ductwork, mechanical equipment, tanks, valves, and fittings; data center or mission-critical project experience is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of insulation materials and systems, including closed-cell elastomeric insulation, fiberglass, mineral wool, cellular glass, polyisocyanurate, removable insulation blankets, vapor retarders, and metal or PVC jacketing. Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, insulation schedules, specifications, equipment submittals, and manufacturer installation requirements. Working knowledge of applicable insulation and energy-efficiency requirements, including ASTM standards, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, SMACNA guidance, and industry best practices. Strong understanding of vapor-barrier continuity, condensation prevention, weatherproofing, personnel protection, and corrosion-under-insulation risk controls. Ability to perform material takeoffs, plan manpower, coordinate access and sequencing, and manage daily and weekly production targets. OSHA 30 certification required; First Aid/CPR, competent-person, fall-protection, scaffold-user, or aerial-lift certifications are a plus. NCCER Industrial Insulator certification, formal insulation apprenticeship, National Insulation Association training, or equivalent trade qualifications preferred. Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to manage multiple contractors and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. High attention to detail with a practical, solutions-oriented approach to field quality and constructability issues. Other important requirements : Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies. Lead, mentor, and supervise insulation installers, foremen, subcontractors, and specialty vendors performing mechanical insulation work across the project. Plan daily activities, assign crews, coordinate access, and monitor productivity to achieve project milestones safely and on schedule. Oversee insulation installation on chilled-water, glycol, liquid-cooling, condensate, refrigerant, hot-water, and other mechanical piping systems, as well as HVAC ductwork, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, valves, and equipment. Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, insulation schedules, approved submittals, specifications, and manufacturer instructions before work begins. Confirm piping and equipment have passed required inspections, pressure tests, flushing, and release requirements before insulation is installed. Verify correct insulation material, density, thickness, layering, fastening, vapor-retarder system, joint treatment, and protective jacketing for each service and operating condition. Maintain continuous vapor barriers on below-ambient systems and ensure proper sealing at fittings, valves, hangers, penetrations, terminations, and equipment interfaces to prevent condensation. Ensure weatherproofing and metal or PVC jacketing are installed correctly on exterior and exposed systems and that insulation is protected from moisture, ultraviolet exposure, physical damage, and contamination. Coordinate insulation sequencing and interfaces with mechanical, piping, HVAC, electrical, controls, fire-protection, structural, and commissioning teams. Collaborate with engineers, vendors, manufacturers, and QA/QC personnel to resolve design conflicts, access constraints, and technical installation issues. Support first-work inspections, mockups, Inspection and Test Plans, quality hold points, and routine field inspections to confirm compliance with project requirements. Identify, document, and correct damaged, wet, incomplete, or non-conforming insulation; manage punch-list items and verify closure before turnover. Support commissioning and functional testing by coordinating temporary insulation removal and reinstatement, monitoring condensation concerns, and assisting with thermal inspections when required. Manage insulation material takeoffs, deliveries, storage, handling, and inventory to prevent shortages, damage, or exposure to moisture. Track installed quantities, manpower, productivity, constraints, and forecasted completion dates; provide accurate daily and weekly updates to construction management.
