We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to work 8 sessions in Fife CAMHS. The post will be covering part of the East Fife area based in the EAST team. The base is located at Playfield House, Stratheden Hospital Cupar, with clinic rooms also in Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy. Currently there is no on-call required of the post holder however in the future on call may become part of the duties of the consultant group. Contributing to emergency response during normal working hours is expected.
The department (Fife CAMHS) includes a core group of experienced and well qualified clinicians from a number of disciplines, including, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Child Psychotherapy, Systemic Psychotherapy and dietetics. The post holder will join an established team of Consultant Psychiatrists. The service has Specialty Doctor posts and one core trainee from the south east Scotland training scheme and is approved for Higher training from the Scottish National training scheme.
We have been at the forefront in Scotland in developing an Intensive Therapy Service including Eating Disorders to offer community based support for children and young people with severe mental health problems. Other multi-disciplinary teams provide services for young people and children requiring urgent and unscheduled care, for looked after children and for children and young people who have been sexually abused. As consultant psychiatrist you will be required to provide an input to all teams with a special emphasis on the Intensive Therapy Team. Tier 3 work will include presentations with anxiety and depression, trauma, eating difficulties, and ADHD with co morbid presentations, anxiety, depression and psychosis. The Tier 3 ADHD pathway currently sits within the community paediatric service. It has been established for 10 years and includes nurses (with prescribing role), and psychologists. It offers assessment and treatment for young people with ADHD, including parent education groups and transition clinics for adolescents. The medical input into the pathway is provided by a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist and a speciality doctor.
The service values further development of skills, research and sharing information. The service will offer opportunities for the successful post holder to receive support for research and engage in a range of training events. There is the opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake clinical lead responsibilities if this aligns with their professional objectives.
In the past year the redesigned multi-agency Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP) has been implemented focussing on collaboration of MDT health colleagues and education and tailored support around neurodivergence rather than assessment only.
Candidates must possess their MRCPsych or equivalent qualification and have obtained, or be within 6 months of obtaining the appropriate CCT from interview.
Fife’s central location means that you are within easy travelling distance of the glorious Scottish countryside. The region has a wide range of sporting and leisure activities particularly golf and horse riding. There are excellent housing and education facilities and the main teaching centres in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee are close and easily accessible by road or public transport.
