Job Summary We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare facility in Al Ain . The successful candidate will provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with eye disorders. The role requires fellowship or subspecialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology and a commitment to delivering exceptional, family-centered care while working within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric eye conditions, including: Strabismus (squint) Amblyopia (lazy eye) Congenital cataracts Congenital glaucoma Pediatric refractive errors Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) Congenital eyelid and lacrimal disorders Genetic and developmental eye diseases Perform comprehensive pediatric eye examinations using age-appropriate assessment techniques. Perform pediatric ophthalmic surgical procedures, including strabismus surgery, pediatric cataract surgery, and other procedures within the scope of practice. Evaluate and manage emergency pediatric ophthalmic conditions. Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists to provide multidisciplinary care. Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and long-term follow-up. Interpret ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic investigations. Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, teaching, research, and continuing medical education activities. Stay current with advances in pediatric ophthalmology and evidence-based clinical practice. Qualifications Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution. Completion of specialist training in Ophthalmology. Fellowship or formal subspecialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology is mandatory. Western-trained education and/or clinical experience (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or equivalent) is preferred. Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, including significant experience in Paediatric Ophthalmology. Eligibility for or possession of a valid DOH Consultant License (or eligibility to obtain one). Demonstrated expertise in the medical and surgical management of pediatric eye disorders. Excellent communication, clinical decision-making, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
