About the Role KBR is seeking a Contracts Specialist to join our team in Lexington Park, MD. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, this hybrid position supports the administration of government contracts throughout the contract lifecycle, combining onsite collaboration with remote work flexibility. Responsibilities include contract administration, proposal support, compliance monitoring, customer communications, and contract documentation activities. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with program management, finance, business development, and customers while gaining experience in U.S. Government contracting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in developing a career in contracts management within a fast-paced environment supporting critical programs and customers. Key Responsibilities Administer and manage contracts and related contractual documentation in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. Review contractual requirements and provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding obligations, risks, and compliance requirements. Support proposal development, contract negotiations, modifications, and contract award activities. Negotiate and execute non-disclosure agreements and other routine contractual agreements. Initiate and maintain internal documentation to authorize work, track contract actions, and support project execution. Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and government regulations. Identify, assess, track, and help mitigate contractual and program risks. Serve as a point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders on assigned contracts. Support government audits, reviews, and requests for contractual information. Assist with contract closeout activities, including intellectual property reporting, government property disposition, and final invoicing coordination. Maintain contract records and support data entry and reporting within company contract management systems and databases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve contractual issues and support successful program execution. Basic Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Economics, Business Law, or a related discipline. 0-2 years of professional experience in contracts, administration, operations, government contracting, supply chain, finance, or a related business field. Internship, cooperative education, or relevant experience supporting contract administration, proposals, business operations, or customer-facing activities is a plus. Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. Must have a Top Secret Clearance or be able to obtain and maintain. Professional Skills & Competencies Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and related agency regulations. Understanding of contract types including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), Time and Materials (T&M), and IDIQ contracts. Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze contractual requirements. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with customers and stakeholders at all levels. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound business judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Adobe Acrobat. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. Familiarity with ITAR and export compliance requirements. Experience preparing or supporting proposal submissions and contract negotiations. Experience with Costpoint and SharePoint. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Knowledge of government contract closeout processes and requirements.
