Relocation assistance may also be provided to the successful candidate. What does a Control Equipment Leader do for us? The Control Equipment Leader at Idaho Power leads a team of Control Equipment Technicians responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and control system equipment that supports substations, power plants, switchyards, and other utility facilities. The role oversees operations, maintenance, construction activities, lifecycle management of SCADA equipment, project coordination, preventive maintenance programs, and 24-hour operational support through on-call response. The position also provides leadership, coaching, and development for field technicians while promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Western Electricity Coordination Council (WECC), and other regulatory requirements. Working across both office and field environments, the Control Equipment Leader collaborates with operations, engineering, cybersecurity, partner utilities, and other business units to maintain secure, reliable, and compliant control systems that support Idaho Power's electric grid. A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE Knowledge of: Electric utility operations, substation equipment, and SCADA systems Utility safety practices and regulatory requirements Industrial control systems, communications networks, and microprocessor-based devices Cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements applicable to operational technology environments Maintenance, testing, and lifecycle management of utility control equipment Skills in: Leading, developing, and mentoring technical teams Troubleshooting control systems, communications, and related equipment Interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction documents Using computer systems, business applications, and technical diagnostic tools Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication Project planning, coordination, and resource management Ability to: Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain SCADA and control system equipment Manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic operational environment Lead and collaborate effectively across diverse teams and departments Build and maintain productive working relationships with employees, customers, contractors, and business partners Exercise sound judgment, initiative, and accountability in decision-making Respond effectively to system emergencies and support critical operational needs Promote a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement Adapt to changing technologies, business requirements, and operational priorities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate degree in electrical engineering technology, electrical systems, electrical controls, industrial control systems, electronics technology or related technical field OR An equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience Experience: 5 years of experience with SCADA/EMS or Operational Technology systems Preferred: Previous experience leading, mentoring, coordinating, or supervising technical personnel Experience in electric utility transmission, distribution, substation, generation, or energy management system (EMS) environments Experience with NERC CIP compliance and utility cybersecurity requirements Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The Control Equipment Leader may need to perform all of the functions of control equipment technician to fill in as needed. This includes occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping/bending, twisting, and rarely crawling or lying at ground level to perform manual dexterity activities, gripping, and operation of hand tools. Sustained postures are maintained occasionally in awkward positions/tight spaces. Lifting/carrying of up to 30 lbs. is performed as well as pushing/pulling (10-15 lbs. force) in utilizing carts/hand carts. 80% of work activities are typically performed sitting at computer with approximately 20% in the field filling in for team members. Driving for up to 4.5 hours throughout the IPC territory is necessary. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Frequent travel within the Idaho Power service area and infrequent travel out of service area. Stands call on a rotational basis to provide 24-hour support. Must abide by Idaho Power's safety rules and regulations. Complete other required Company and safety training.
