Job Description: The Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner. The Cook must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. The Cook must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace, follow all safety procedures. Job Function and Duties: Perform food preparation, planning, and presentation duties, for all items in the kitchen, including washing, chopping, and dicing; Season food that will be served; Follow any and all recipes; Ensure the proper use of scales and measurements in all recipes, portioning, and food production; Plate completed dishes; Assist with the preparation and planning for service; Restocks all items as needed throughout shift. Assist with the purchase of items for use in the kitchen, Maintain product consistency by regularly conducting inspections of portions, and the appearance of food items; Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. Ensure that cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in the various kitchen areas including refrigerators, storerooms, and food preparation and production stations and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness; Ensure food is stored in appropriate containers and labelled; minimizing waste and maximizing quality; Strive to uphold a safe working environment and be health and safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining and improving a safe work environment; Report any maintenance issues or health and safety incidents; Adhere to all guidelines, policies, rules and regulations; Perform other related duties as required. Requirements: Professional diploma or food services management preferred. Cooking experience required Certified food handler certificate required Demonstrated knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation required. Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required. Effective communication skills. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. Highly effective teamwork skills. Attention to detail in all areas of work. Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision. Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
