Location: Metro Detroit

Our client located in Metro Detroit is a well-established, multi-brand consumer products company with an iconic portfolio of premium lifestyle brands. They are seeking a Corporate Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities while partnering closely with executive leadership to support continued growth.

This is a highly visible leadership role reporting to the CFO, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, tax coordination, and process improvement initiatives. The Controller will lead a team responsible for general accounting, AP, AR, payroll, and cost accounting while helping drive operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, month-end and year-end close, and consolidated financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
• Oversee external audits, tax providers, and lender reporting.
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, working capital, and financial analysis.
• Drive process improvements, systems optimization, and scalable accounting practices.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team across multiple entities.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred; MBA preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a strong academic program.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience within a consumer products, retail, or e-commerce organization is required.
• Strong technical accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit experience.
• Experience in a multi-entity environment.
• ERP experience; NetSuite is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or business intelligence tools is preferred.
• Proven ability to build teams, improve processes, and partner with executive leadership.
