POSITION SUMMARY The Cardiovascular (CV) Invasive Specialist Technologist III utilizes technical skills to deliver direct and indirect patient care in compliance with regulatory and department processes during a variety of Cardiovascular, or Electrophysiology, or Interventional Radiology, or Neuro Interventional procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients. The CV Invasive Specialist Technologist III is proficient in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional procedures, preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with policies, procedures and processes. The CV Invasive Specialist Technologist III is responsible for achieving system and department goals, and quality and fiscal targets. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES Promotes interdepartmental relationships with positive interactions, maintaining a professional, team-orientated working environment. Assists the physician when required and anticipates equipment needs. Recognizes potential emergency and life threatening situations and implements preventative measures as directed by the physician. Practices proper protection measures proactively to ensure radiation safety for self, other associates, visitors, and physicians. Minimizes risk of exposure to possible hazardous materials by leveraging and practicing proper protection measures. Communicates effectively and frequently with Associates to share information and solve problems in a positive manner. Performs all aspects of cath/ interventional procedures; trains, precepts, and continuously coaches associates in the cardiac cath/interventional lab. Leverages a working knowledge of drugs and calculations commonly used in the cardiac cath/interventional lab. Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner. Optimizes the schedule according to the H&V Interventional Lab scheduling policy with a focus on safe and efficient patient throughput and informs the Manager of any problems related to scheduling and emergencies. Work Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Any one of the following: Associate’s degree program in Radiologic Technology OR Graduate of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology Program with one (1) year of specialty training OR Graduate of Cardiopulmonary Technology Program OR Graduate of Respiratory Therapist Program OR Graduate of Emergency Medical Technician Paramedics (EMS-P/EMT-P) Program OR Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program OR Graduate of On-The-Job Training Technologist Program. Associate’s degree in an applicable Health science. Work Experience: Experience as a preceptor. Licensure: Any one of the following prior to start date and maintained: For Radiology Technologists : General Radiographer licensure in the State of Florida. For Respiratory Therapists : Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure in the State of Florida. Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (AHA ACLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card within 90 days of start date and maintained. Any one of the following specialty certifications prior to start date and maintained: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) OR Cardiac Interventions Endorsement – ARRT (CI) OR Vascular Interventional Radiography – ARRT (VI). For Certified Surgical Technologists : Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) prior to start date and maintained. For Paramedic program graduates : Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) prior to start date and maintained. For Radiology Technologists : American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT RT(R). If being hired into Neuro Interventional Lab : Stroke Scale Certification from American Heart Association (AHA), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Academy of Continuing Medical Education (AACME), or Apex within one (1) year of start date and maintained. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Ability to take and pass applicable leadership and preceptor courses. Expert-level clinical and interpersonal skills, including advanced soft skills, presentation abilities, and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrates ability to learn and practice new techniques and equipment utilization by attending training sessions and familiarizing self with new procedure revisions as they occur. Fully trained and proficient in three (3) or more advanced modalities, which may include Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology (IR), Interventional Neuroradiology (INR), or Electrophysiology (EP). Extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to specialty practice areas such as cardiovascular, interventional radiology, or neurovascular procedures. Demonstrated Super User expertise in two (2) or more specialty applications or pieces of equipment, with the ability to serve as a resource and trainer for other staff. Able to participate in or leads annual and ongoing competency check-offs, ensuring adherence to department standards and continuous professional development. Engages in Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives, contributing to team-based projects and providing ongoing support to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency. Demonstrates ability to operate, problem-solve, and improvise common equipment malfunctions. Ability to take call acknowledging emergency alerts within five (5) minutes and present to hospital facility within thirty (30) minutes of alert. Knowledge of electrocardiogram (ECG) training and arrhythmia interpretation. Knowledge of cardiovascular and vascular anatomy. Knowledge of Hemodynamic Monitoring. Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Excellent communication skills in an active team environment. Ability to assess and interpret data. Ability to clearly communicate with patient/family/physicians at various levels of understanding. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and uses this knowledge to enhance hemodynamic and angiographic techniques as observed by the attending physician. Ability to monitor patient blood pressure, electrocardiogram (ECG), and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in a applicable Health Science. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead. May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise. May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines. Communicating with others to exchange information. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. Workspace may vary from open to confined. May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
