Job Description: The CV Invasive Specialist I performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist I performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist I assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Follows Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or for Electrophysiology the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology. As an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care. Intermountain Health Saint Vincent Hospital is equipped with 2 Cath Labs, 1 Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, 1 Vascular Suite, and a Hybrid Operating Room, providing a comprehensive environment for advanced cardiovascular interventions. We perform approximately 350 procedures per month, spanning a diverse range of specialties: Cardiac Procedures: Diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, including Impella support. Electrophysiology: Complex arrhythmia ablations (SVT, atrial fibrillation, Aflutter), Farapulse technology, and Watchman device implantation. Structural Heart Interventions: TAVR, Triclip, MitraClip, ASD, and PFO closures. Vascular Procedures: Endovascular, peripheral interventions, EVAR, TAVAR, TEVAR. Each of our laboratories is outfitted with Philips imaging systems and GE Mac-Lab hemodynamic monitoring systems, complemented by Acist contrast injection devices to optimize precision and efficiency. Our team is highly proficient in using cutting-edge technology, including Pnumbra, Shockwave, Rotablator, Volcano systems, IVUS, Boston Scientific devices, Impella, balloon pumps, and 3D ICE technology. Beyond our technical expertise, we foster a collaborative and respectful environment that brings together Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Cardiac Surgeons, ensuring interdisciplinary excellence. Our procedures are carried out by highly skilled three-person teams, composed of registered nurses and invasive technologists, with documentation managed via Epic and Mac-Lab systems. Check out this video and learn more and discover the “Power of We.” As a CV Invasive Specialist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by: Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular and interventional procedures. Provides patient care under the supervision of the provider. Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures. Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events. Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure. Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit. Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures. Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and takes appropriate actions Minimum Qualifications CVIS I Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. PALS certification for children's hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech) - or – Graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program - or – Graduate of a diploma or associate program in health science with one year of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical tech, RN/LPN) - or – Graduate of a non-programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology which has a minimum of one year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. Intermediate computer skills. Current license, where applicable. - and- Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado Preferred Qualifications 2 years of CV Invasive Training experience. Minimum Qualifications CVIS II Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. PALS certification for children's hospitals or ACLS certification for adults. New employees must obtain within 3 months of start. Beginning July 1, 2026 must be registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or ARRT-CI or ARRT-VI only or RN (previous relevant RN experience required) Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding and proficiency in correlation with years of experience with regards to electrophysiology procedures. Maintains at least 12 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits per year. Demonstrates clinical competence of CVIS/CVES I skills evidenced by skills sign off (must be completed within 3 months of hire) Must meet all state specific requirements (must be completed within 3 months of hire) including, but not limited to: Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado Montana ARRT state license Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in health science program. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. - or – Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Respiratory Therapy program One year of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Electrophysiology experience (not including academic training or CVIS training). Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
