As the school continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and inspirational Deputy Principal to support the Principal in providing strong academic and operational leadership across the school.
The Role
The Deputy Principal will be a key member of the school's senior leadership team and will work closely with the Principal, teachers, students, parents, and administrative teams.
The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic development of the school while taking a leading role in academic standards, teaching and learning, student wellbeing, staff development, behaviour, safeguarding, and day-to-day school operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced international educator who is looking to contribute to the development of a growing international school and play a significant role in establishing a strong school culture and high educational standards.
We are looking for candidates from the UK or South Africa, with a strongh experience with the Cambridge curriculum and C2 level English. Candidates already based in Egypt would be especially attractive.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & School Development
• Support the Principal in the overall leadership and management of the school.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's vision, mission, strategic objectives, and improvement plans.
• Act as a senior representative of the school when required.
• Support the Principal in developing a positive, inclusive, and internationally minded school culture.
• Take responsibility for delegated areas of school leadership and ensure effective implementation.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining high standards across all areas of school life.
• Deputise for the Principal in their absence.
2. Teaching & Learning
• Provide strong leadership in teaching, learning, and academic standards across the school.
• Monitor the quality of teaching and learning through lesson observations, learning walks, student work scrutiny, and other appropriate methods. • Work with Heads of Departments/Subject Leaders and teachers to ensure effective curriculum delivery.
• Support the implementation of the Pearson and Cambridge programmes, including preparation for IGCSE/GCSE pathways.
• Promote effective assessment, tracking, intervention, differentiation, and reporting.
• Analyse student achievement data and work with staff to identify areas for improvement.
• Support the development of consistent teaching and learning practices across the school.
• Promote high expectations for student achievement and progress.
3. Staff Leadership & Development
• Support the recruitment, induction, development, and retention of high quality teaching staff.
• Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional support to teachers and middle leaders.
• Contribute to staff appraisal and performance management processes. • Identify professional development needs and help develop an effective CPD programme.
• Encourage a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional improvement.
• Support new expatriate and local staff in understanding the school's policies, expectations, and culture.
4. Student Welfare, Behaviour & Safeguarding
• Promote high standards of student behaviour, discipline, attendance, and punctuality.
• Ensure that student wellbeing remains central to school life. • Work closely with the safeguarding team to ensure that safeguarding procedures are effectively implemented.
• Ensure compliance with school safeguarding policies and procedures. • Support the development of an inclusive environment where students feel safe, respected, and valued.
• Work with staff and parents to address behavioural, pastoral, and welfare concerns.
• Ensure appropriate systems are in place to identify and support students who require additional academic, pastoral, or SEN support.
5. Curriculum & Assessment
• Support the Principal and academic leadership team in reviewing and developing the curriculum.
• Ensure that curriculum planning reflects the requirements of the relevant Pearson and Cambridge programmes.
• Monitor curriculum coverage, progression, and continuity from Early Years through secondary education.
• Support effective preparation for external examinations and assessments. • Ensure that assessment information is used effectively to improve student outcomes.
• Promote a broad and balanced educational experience alongside strong academic achievement.
6. School Operations, Administration & Business Support
• Support the Principal in the effective day-to-day operation and administration of the school.
• Work closely with the School Business Director on all school-related administrative and operational matters, ensuring effective coordination between the academic and business/administrative functions of the school.
• Collaborate with the Business Director on matters relating to staffing, facilities, procurement, transport, school resources, health and safety, events, and other operational requirements.
• Ensure that administrative matters affecting teaching, learning, students, and staff are communicated and addressed efficiently.
• Support the implementation and review of school policies and administrative procedures.
• Contribute to effective timetable and staffing arrangements. • Monitor attendance and punctuality across the school.
• Support the effective organisation of school events, examinations, meetings, assemblies, and other school activities.
• Work collaboratively with HR, Finance, Facilities, Admissions, Transport, and other administrative teams.
• Escalate significant operational or administrative matters to the Principal and Business Director as appropriate.
• Ensure that academic and operational priorities are aligned and that decisions support the overall strategic objectives of Regal Cairo International School.
7. Parent & Community Engagement
• Develop positive and professional relationships with parents and families. • Support the Principal in addressing parent concerns and resolving issues effectively.
• Promote strong communication between the school and its parent community.
• Represent the school positively within the wider community.
• Support school marketing, admissions, open days, and community engagement activities when required.
8. International School Development
• Promoting international best practice in education.
• Supporting the development of a diverse and inclusive school community. • Ensuring that expatriate and local staff work effectively as one team. • Promoting international-mindedness and global citizenship. • Supporting the school's growth while maintaining high educational standards.
• Contributing to preparation for future accreditation, inspections, and external quality assurance processes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate should have:
• A recognised Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
• Significant experience as a teacher in an international or British-curriculum school.
• Proven leadership experience in a senior or middle leadership position.
• Experience working with Cambridge and/or Pearson qualifications, particularly at secondary/IGCSE/GCSE level. This qualification is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and teaching and learning.
• Experience in staff management, coaching, and professional development. • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Desirable
• Previous experience as a Deputy Principal, Assistant Principal, Vice Principal, Head of School, Head of Secondary, or equivalent.
• Experience in a growing international school.
• Experience with both Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International programmes.
• Experience preparing a school for inspection or accreditation. • A recognised leadership qualification such as NPQSL, NPQH, MA in Educational Leadership, or equivalent.
• Previous international experience outside the candidate's home country. • Experience working in the Middle East or Egypt.
